The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Actually yeah, you are right...the rear ones too. I'm leaving them though. I like the look of them black, as though they are separate.

Nice work on the weathering. It adds a lot to the gun. I wouldn't repaint for the brackets either; the Matrix PR comes with them flat black as issued. I think it looks fine either way.

So next up on the to do list, is sew on the name tapes, add velcro to the badges and sleeves (so I can swap out badges if need be), make a leather scabbard for the MK II, make some grenades, sew the velcro on the pouches...and buy a few more bits then I'm done. I also ordered some sling screws and swivel mounts for the PR.

Some progress pics (I now have a full set of Polish Dessie BDU's):

Looks awesome Matt! How did you do the stencil for your name? Those are some sharp crisp lines!

Again....there are a lot of very helpful and creative people here on the forum. I bought some vinyl stencils from Mike Rush for a very good price and used them. Cant take any of the credit there!

Now go roll around outside for a little while. Get some scratches and dull down the camo a bit.

Armour looks great! I also agree to not go any further with the blackwash; you don't want to look like a chimney sweep.

Online, lookin' good!

Rog...I will contact him. :D

I thought the armour was dark enough too...thanks for the feedback.

Managed to sew on my patches...I velcro'd the flag and USCM, so when I get other patches, I can swap them out. So when I go to DragonCon, I can use US markings...when in Rome and all that.

Finished the sheath for the Gerber MK II. Really easy. I used 7 oz leather for the base, and about 5 oz for the part that covers the blade. Used a small piece of coat hanger for the metal hanger which loops through the YC2 belt. Three 0.5" length steel solid rivets, and one snap. I dyed the leather, gave it a coat of neatsfoot oil, and stitched the two pieces together. Took maybe a couple of hours all told. Hangs nicely on my belt.

I have the patterns for it if any one wants it.

The only thing I would change is somehow add a stiffener, maybe a thin piece of metal along the length of the blade, glued to the leather. Because it's a cast piece, it's a bit soft and the scabbard pulls the knife off center when done up.

Agreed! I'm holding out for a Night Raider, but you really did a great job on that Gerber sheath.
