The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I just got a letter from Parcel Force demanding...
... wait for it...

£168.85 in import duty, VAT and clearance fees.

Sorry guys, gonna need to ask for some chip-innerry :|

There's 6 of us on the list, making £28.14 each.

Hope you guys are cool with that?
:|

We knew it might happen though.

It's nice to know how fair, caring and sharing our Post Office continues to prove itself to be!!

Can you remind me of your paypal address again Rev and I'll get the shortfall to you asap.

Cheers,

Andy

Sorry bout that mateys, but after having to eat $700 worth of uninisured package earlier this year without so much as a 'Sorry gov...' I really felt compelled to declare and insure the package for it's minimal worth, that is to say a price that I could replace the lamps for if it came to that.

LMK if I can help when you get the lamps.

Matt

No apology needed. :D

We guessed we'd get hit and we have, so we just need to stump up a little more, that's all.

Having seen images of your lamps, I can't wait to hold it in my hands. (oo-err missus!)

Not your fault, Matt - If I remember rightly, you asked me what I wanted you to declare anyway for insurance purposes - Either way we'd have been gambling, and I'd rather gamble the customs charges than gamble the lamps themselves!

paypal at signoise.com please, folks, if you're Paypalling. ( I'd appreciate the fees as well if you choose that. )

Or email me if you want to do Bank Transfer. The same address will work, as will anything to that domain.

I had the same thing from Matt with the shoulder lamp.

But I think I payed £55.

They must really like you Matt.

But what do you do. Say it worth $20 and it goes missing or put down the true cost and hope the VAT does not pick it up.

It a real pain the VAT but the thing I hate is paying the £12.50 or £13.50 for parcel force to delivery the item that you have already paid.

Hope that parcel force does not pick on you any more Matt.

Cheer's DATA

Roight.

Mother Dearest took a pile of lamp kits to the PO today.

'Troon, Baz and Clanger - Your lamps are in the mail.

Medway - I'm painting my own up, and if I have any Brown Bess left when it's done I'll use it for yours, otherwise it'll have to be OD. That alright?

Kona - Waiting for the LED stuff to come in for me, so will keep you posted.

Scapey - Your lamp's in the loft with the base coat drying.

Yours'll probably end up looking better than mine.
Brown Bess = Sticky horrible stuff, and I don't have an airbrush :|

BTW - Be careful when you open yours. Don't throw any small pieces away with the packaging ;)

Helloooooooo - You've ALREADY been paid to handle it!

Still, can't really blame Parcel Force on this one. Those charges have been imposed by HM Revenue and Customs.

Not all of them - Parcel Force still always charge an extra handling fee for the privilege of them having paid your Customs clearance fees and not brought your parcel to your house until you pay them...
