Sorry. But I had to send that auroraproject guy a message over ebay asking how one m-40 grenade was worth $40 (plus another 30 or so shipping), when I could buy 4 from Spatcave for $22 + Shipping. I asked what made his grenades so special.

I couldn't help it. I was looking around on Ebay for general ALIENS stuff and came across a few of his auctions. Then like a fly drawn to a steaming pile of s**t I looked at all his stuff.

What an ass-douche. He needs to be slapped in the face with a rotting salmon.

In case you didn't know, those ARE my grenades! He keeps buying them from me and then re-selling them on eBay. The picture shows that my grenades should not be sanded. Only rubbed with steel wool!

Ebay is bogus. Most of the things there are either over-priced, or inaccurately described. They sap fees from the seller, which they either have to eat or build into the price/shipping. If someone has a storefront elsewhere I'd take that over an ebay listing any day.

I think in the case of auroraproject it goes well beyond capitalism run amok...

Taking a legitimate product and selling it for an outrageous price (such as reselling Matt or Spat's products) is one thing. In that case it is more or less the buyer's fault for not doing their homework and grossly overpaying.

However in AP's case he has been called out for deliberate deception, preying on the complete ignorance of the buyer. For instance calling a 2 quart shoulder strap (worth $3.00) a screenaccurate pulse rifle strap and selling it for $50! Another example is the recent GRiD laptop he sold as being the exact model used in the film, when it wasn't even remotely close.

This is blatant lying, and I've known used car salesmen with more business ethics. This is the lowest of the low. The snake oil salesman who knows their product is bogus, but is able to talk someone into buying it anyway. And since Ebay is global, the World is his oyster. There will always be some poor schmuck out there who will fall for his lies; it is just a matter of time.

As for him getting back to you Mangus, he either won't, or will try to charm his way around your question. However in the past, if he knows that the person isn't there to potentially buy, but just to call him out he has been rude, vulgar and hot headed. However I doubt he would be as brash if the person was standing right in front of him.

Price-gouging and hoping that a sucker comes by so you can scam him out of his money... Isn't capitalism.

When I resell military surplus, I usually limit it to forums for Airsoft, reenacting, or even now, costuming. I buy things that are seriously undervalued, and then sell them for a few bucks more, at a price that's very competitive on the market. (usually I sell at below market prices, and that's why I limit my potential customers to forums I frequent.)

I do this to increase my personal collection, make a quick buck, and help people while I'm doing it. I could charge market prices, and make more money, (yea capitalism!), but I'd rather move this stock faster and then get onto the next deal.

Ebay can be a great place, as long as you don't get too caught up with things. I've seen bidding for DVDs there go above the price I could have got it at my local store, without having to pay postage. I put one of my old Eagle Transporters I paid twenty quid for on there, and sold it for seventy-five through auctioning, though that's a rarity as I never expect much of a profit at all on stuff I sell, as simply getting rid of old stuff I can't use or is just taking up space.

If I see something on ebay, before buying I always check their feedback, and shop around to see if I can't find it cheaper elsewhere - as an example my Classic Doctor Who DVD collection is about 50-50 ebay and Amazon.

The problem with scalpers like this is they prey on those who know no better. Those who do won't buy from them, so can't give negative feedback. Those who don't are ignorant of the fact that the superb quality item they just purchased is actually Spat's and available for a far more reasonable price.
