The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Ollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllld news Proph.

Would have been much better, but Fox weren't keen with the idea of Aliens on earth, and while they liked parts they didn't really appreciate the screenplay as a whole. Gibson was asked to make rewrites but declined as he was busy with other commitments. You can get a good feel for what could have been with the Gibson version by picking up the Dark Horse Aliens omnibusses - Just replace Billy with Newt and Wilkes with Hicks. Novelisations are the same, I believe, although I have less experience with those.

The space monks on the wooden space-ship version is a good one too, although for different [funnier] reasons: http://www.horrorlair.com/scripts/alien3_fasano.html

It would seem it's almost Fox policy now ...

Question is, as a general rule, would people have liked a film or videogame which had the Aliens and CM's on earth and didn't retread LV426 at all?

Going beyond that, would Colonial Marines on earth with little or no reference to the Xenomorphs be commercially successful?

I think it would have to be a balls out f'kin awesome war movie in 3D to even get a second read through by producers. Even then people would ask "Where are the Aliens?".

Now a movie set after Prometheus/Alien explaining the link between the USCM an WY with spec-ops and different species of aliens would work.

It's a shame, because [and i say this all the time to everyone who will bloody listen] Colonial Marines would stand absolutely fine by themselves out of an Alien context.

I want to see Colonial Marines putting down colony rebellions, I want to see why it doesn't matter when it's arcturian. I want the Colonial Marines to exist outside of being mostly alien food, because if we're suppposed to believe they're the best in the business, I want to see why - before the Aliens tear them apart. I'm really upset Colonial Marines wasn't played straight up as a Weyland blaster for the first 2-3 levels before the Aliens bust out and cause havoc.

Colonial Marines on Earth kind of defeats the concept of the Marines being "Colonial". But there's nothing to say, with a good story, that a game within the universe but not about xenomorphs couldn't work.

That being said, everyone would just moan about not working with an original IP.
