The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I noticed a nod to Prometheus. There's a quick glimpse of those laser balls going down a corridor in the Derelict.

Like that but it was a transfer tube with the Hat and Cane in it. Only Easter egg i found so far.

I almost prefer they had let that joke stay subtle and end it there... but hell, when I saw this I still had to chuckle.

But yeah, while borderline "overdoing it" I still got a kick out of it.

Whoa, really interesting. Makes Prometheus a bit better for me if the theory is true. Though I disagree the evolution went from egg to urn. Me thinks they all used the goo at the start and it's the bad guys that reached the point of creating a xeno and said "yeah, that'll do the trick" as in eradictaing life all over the place.

Interesting to the max. I can dig it, and man...I actually DID unload a few rounds into his head! I wanted to see if the mask was destructable or something. Guess I didnt shoot enough though...

I agree with Chris about the eggs. Prometheus set up an implied 'evolution' of the alien as we know it. The eggs feel more like a finished product of a specific weapon as opposed to a precursor of goo in urns with variable results.

Well said. I hope this all turns out to be one of the secrets the franchise will eventually reveal.

As I said in another thread

"So, 2nd playthrough and the ending was even more dissapointing given the potential what about the other marines??
O'neal made no sense, I didn't care about Cruz's death and Winter (whom I liked, actually) seemed as emotionaless as Bishop. The pilot, who's plotline I actually enjoyed, stopped just as it started getting interesting.

Did anyone notice Hicks isn't wearing armour in ANY cutscene, but IS in all the gameplay when he's fighting.......erm....derp....."

Makes sad me sad :(

The Space Jockey/Engineer article was great. Thanks for posting that link! I'm on my second playthrough and will make sure to pop his melon when I get there. I'm really hoping some of the upcoming DLC will carry the story further and add more depth to what was established in the game so far.

For better or worse, I think they left a lot of doors open for the DLC and I really really HOPE the holes in the story are going to be filled in with DLC campaigns. I have 2 major gripes in the story (that I wont mention just yet, because I havent quite beat it, and I'm hoping they will address them). But they seem perfect scenarios to duck the "bad story" label by attacking with better DLC. crossing my fingers!

EDIT/UPDATE: My questions were NOT answered by the ending (HA! Pretty monstrous understatement ...)

Another EDIT: any come across Weirzbowski? His name/voice actor was on the cast list of IMDB.com. When I read that I thought I ruined a spoiler for myself, but alas he never showed. Was he cut from the script like oh so many other bits? All just a smokescreen online to attempt to hide hicks?

So yeah - HICKS?

No one is happier than I that Hicks didn't get squished in Alien 3, but it literally takes the continuity and hits it repeatedly. I mean, that was clearly his body in the tube for A3. I dunno, it just strikes me as a little irritating.

I did like that the Wey-Yu scanners from Prometheus were featured, that was a nice touch. Also a shame there wasn't anything more shooty to play with.

A little detail I haven't seen anyone notice though - When you get to the derelict, the space jockeys chest is intact.

Yes, I did notice that. But I also felt that you came across two different jockeys, as the layout of the gantries in each instance of coming across one are different. Does this imply that there are multiple jocky chairs in an engineer's ship, and the Nostromo crew just happened to come across the one that had been chestburst?

Why was that "clearly" his body? It had no head! Michael Biehn OK'd the use of his image only as a picture ripley would look at and the body's face was never shown.

Its been a while since I have seen the movie, so if I am misremembering then forgive me (wouldnt be the first time this week!), but I don't see the problem. WeyYu just stuck some different poor sap in there that got smashed - No biggy.

It WASN'T clearly Hicks - the body is mashed beyoned recognition! (You see teeth amidts the gore for christ sakes). The only time you see Hick's face is the picture on the computer! They don't test the DNA or anything. They just take Ripley's word for it!

So that's one twist that actually could make sense, and doesn't mess with continuity at all. We got bak the Marine we all want most. And of all the plot-holes/problems, it is by far not the worst

I'd put nothing beyond WY, to be honest

I just wish they hadn't been so vague with the explanation though.

I admit, I felt sad as hell when I came upon the body that looked a lot like hudson. Didnt look like hudson after being dead 17 weeks though! Kind of fresh. So maybe it wasnt him? He could still be out there? Hiding?

Me personally, I wanted Weirzbowski dammit!!! But seeing Hicks is action was a very welcome sight.

No Hudson specific armor paint either. Plus he didn't wear gloves or tape his wrists. Gloves and tape could have happened after the fact but I doubt he would have switched armor. I too was hoping for a gone all feral Hudson who had been hiding and living like a Mountain Man for 4 months.

I agree! It wasn't Hudson that we know, but his previously unknown brother, Eddie Hudson, who was part of the Sephora. Our Hudson, (in a short story by the esteemed Russ "Rook" , actually escaped the clutches of the vile alien scum. He was eventually rescued.)( By the Marines on the Sephora would be cool...I then took it a step further- Hudson finally got out of the USCM, wrote his memoirs "USCM- Horror on LV-426", used the profits to buy an older space station. He operates the best, most well known bar in the galaxy- "Hudson's Hangout", where you might find allll sorts of science fiction types- USCM, SST, Malcolm Reynolds, Jayne, various Aliens (not Xenos-they don't party, except for Abe T. Alien!) a older Jedi, older Clone-ARC Trooper,Droids, a Predator, SG1, SG Atlantis. (yes, there is a small Stargate!) etc. Hudson and a few other regulars hold down the fort. I've been working for the past several years to gather crew & customers, furniture, etc. for this in 1/6th scale. It is 8' x 24" deep.

That should be deep enough for anyone, heyooooooo!

And of course Hudson lived. No one can debate that fact. Ever. It's canon that he lived. I read that somewhere.

Well, there were certainly plenty of sets of armor lying around throughout the game lol The only weird thing is that it's his exact armor from the film, shotgun scabbard and all.
