The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

 Post subject: Weyland-Yutani Spec Ops?
PostPosted: Sun Sep 09, 2012 5:30 pm

I was thinking of putting together a WY Spec Ops costume to add a little variety to my collection. My Armour got a little fucked up in transit from Dragon Co, so I though I could just mod this Armour for the peice and buy a new one for the CM(which was the plan anyway)Now I am thinking about essentially a evil corp version of the marines including Black BDUs maybe with the same collar, black version of the armour with WY insignia. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

We discussed this last year, with the idea being that the SpecOps squad could possibly use salvaged tech from Predator incursions, as well as the odd bit of biotech from Xeno research...

Well if you fancy doing some Expanded Universe stuff, send me some ideas and we can work on it!

I've had some ideas.

So the WY Spec Ops I am thinking of calling The Hounds as in release the hounds. A Spec Ops military wing of WY that is used when the companies interest are threatened by a trained and armed opponent. Essentially they would be a mix of Colonial Marine, WT uniforms using a mix of experimental predator tech, modified conventional weapons and perhaps some Xenomorph DNA treatment. Story wise they could be genetically engineered super soldiers with unquestionable loyalty to the company.

To start uniform wise I am going for Black Claw Gear Raider BDUs, Armour sprayed Krylon Matte black and parts removed to make it more stream lined, Black leather LOWA GTX Combat boots, Black Cap with White on Black name tape on the back(similar to the one Gorman wears in Aliens), Shooting glass's with one black lens(predator style HUD tech in the black lens, perhaps add a laser)Color scheme wise I am thinking Black, White and Yellow of course.

Insignia wise I was going to make something up and have the patches made up custom, thinking an altered WT logo or just use the logo my Airsoft team The Hounds use.Image

Thoughts? Its very early on of course.

Lemme see if I can revive the hard drive I lost after Callum, Lucas, rich and I discussed it last year - I had a bunch of stuff sketched up.
Was thinking UV shoulder lamps with built in strobes to distrupt Predator cloaking and targeting tech, and patches of organic armour to protect against blood splatter.
Full face-masks are, of course, a must ;)

Lamp is a good idea. Could alter a Airsoft/Paintball mask for the task but Ill wear the hat when its hot.

See, a Predator mask is similar to the airsoft/paintball masks? ;)

Well the mouth section.

Cheers.

Using the hounds stuff means I can integrate the stuff I have already made for Airsoft.

I'll get on the logo at some point this week, patch wise I picked up a 2 inch circle WT logo patch in Atlanta that would be perfect.

Armour wise I am striping down my set to minimum but really I would love a set of the recon armour Spate made from the forthcoming game. In the story you could make it a composite of Xeno bio armour there by making it acid proof with the need to change it look wise.

Head wise maybe some kind of full face mask made from a paintball/Airsoft mask or a helmet n lower face mask combo to really take away the humanity from the characters. Alternatively just a cap when it's hot as you could write in the story their skin is resilient to acid through the DNA treatment?

Black armor with the right shoulder removed? Why do I feel like I've seen that before?

Yep I did that but don't worry between Dragon Con transit and the TE shoulders scraping the paint job it was pretty fucked anyway.

WY Spec Ops Vs. Coloinial Marines at the bar sounds good to me ;)

That's called "Weathering" :p

*Shrug*
S'your armour, I just reckon you'd have gotten a really good price for it with the TE shoulders and the Nickatron paintjob, and could have started your new design from a fresh Spat set.

Personally, I think you should lave out the CM armor, not everything should revolve around that.

There was a piece of artwork a few years ago that depicted a WY security officer, I think it was from one of the computer games. Anyway, I thought that was a good starting point. Wish I could remember where it was.
