The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi all
Will there be any space to display our props? I could bring a few things along. Or is this purely for costuming groups and the props are only those in the exhibition?
Al

Hopefully we should have. If you want a table to display props you are quite welcome but I would suggest it was manned at all times.

We do have Woodhorn helpers in the tent to look after the prizes and keep an eye on things but there is space elsewhere near the dealers where yourself or anyone else would be able to get set up.

I've got a full building for changing facilities sorted out, http://www.experiencewoodhorn.com/buildings/ we've got the Winding House Number 1 for the main change. We've also got a drop in area in the stables (it's clean) for drinks and quick breaks.

I've got a meeting on the 10th so I'll organise some space for a table. I think the 99th Garrison will also want one.

If anyone else has any questions or stuff you want to do, let me know as I have my last proper meeting with Woodhorn on the 10th and then less than two weeks later it's happening.

It's all coming together rather nice and if the weather stays fine it'll be a fun day.

splik can you recommend any places to stay for the Saturday night?

I've had a look... http://bit.ly/MzIJta Try these www.bookings.com 9 miles from Ashington. I've used Premiere Inn and Holiday Inns at the bottom for various events. If stuck try further afield.

The nearest is the Premiere Inn on site but that looks like it's full and so it's not showing on the list above. http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/ASHW ... P36=X9QCNP But I don't know whether you'd get cancellations if you phone direct... it's worth a go.

Otherwise try the link above.

I've got my meeting on the 10th and I'll check to see if Woodhorn can recommend any B&Bs that might be off the net, but local. If you haven't managed to get sorted by then.

I was hoping this was going to be a family day out for us and Have Abigail in her Mini Colonial Marine kit running out and about.

Alas I`m at the Manchester Expo on the 21st July, plus Claire`s Birthday. So Claire`s getting geared up as Claire Redfield from "Resident Evil: AFTERLIFE" we have both been building the last month or two (planning for going for clearance with REEL ICONS with it too) and hanging with us. Then once the event is done, Romantic evening out to wine and dine my Sweetheart in Manchester (anyone know a Great restaurant, Chinese preferable?).
Won`t be back home till late afternoon on the 22nd :/ It will be Claire and I`s first weekend away just the two of us for just over 13 years LOL. So we`re making the most of it.

Have fun guys and sorry Not there :/

Ahh. Shame. My two, 8 and 5 will be dressed in their Star Ears costumes and we've got a few youngsters amongst the groups to have fun.

Maybe next year.

Its all about the kids, our timelords will be on a strict instructions to only give Tardis keys to under 12s so that the prize for the day long tardis key hunt doesn't end up on ebay.

As it is family event. Don't be too scary. :)

I had a meeting yesterday and you've got tables as needed to display your stuff. You'll be able to chat with the 99th Garrison who've got a table in the same area and our two dealers. Not matter what those will be inside.

I'm currently putting together a poster to display the schedule around the site. Are there any photos that would be handy to put on the poster for those that are going to be there? Maybe individual costume shots or groups so I can dot them lurking around the activities on the poster. So far I've got Daleks, flying saucers, and Star Wars characters. It would be fun if there are interesting expressions... or not.

I've got to get this completed this week now that the schedule has been locked down.

Oh, by the way I'm assigning Modus Operandi for all the groups so they bounce of each other. This will be a nice for the public to be surrounded by the experience. I've distributed the rest of the MO's for the other groups and I will go through and overview on the briefing at 9am.

I've also attached a very early version of the schedule poster. The schedule is locked down but I'm still working on the poster design. Rex - are you happy for me to use this Alien clip? I couldn't resist the shot.

Anyway, read on.

Modus Operandi

ALL - Unfortunately your weaponry has been deactivated (except for the BUG HUNT!), but you must not let any of your enemies know that. The public are your friends, the others you’re not sure about.

Colonial Marines –You thought this planet was uninhabited, is this earth? Something strange must have gone wrong with the navigation. Whatever, but you’ve heard that there may be an Alien Infestation on site, but you are not sure whether it’s a Xenomorph or any other creature. Be wary of the other alien creatures/robots/androids on site. You believe you will ultimately find your Alien with the help of the local residents, ask them if they’ve seen a Xenomorph and ask for their help in finding it in one of the locations on site. Make sure you protect the humans, but tell them to keep safe and report any alien sightings for investigation. Why is there a stuffed alien xenomorph in the exhibition, plus alien bodyparts and who was in that cryotube?

Doctors/Time Lords – If you see another timelord or a version of yourself it might be worth sticking together, or if you think it may cause a rip in the space time continuum, maybe avoid them. You know from previous experience, that being on a planet with other alien races and cultures, it could very well end up in war. Why are the Daleks not exterminating everyone? As usual from your fondness of humans it’s worth protecting this planet and it’s habitants at all costs. Oh, an you are looking for a new companion… Who would you trust with a Tardis key? Check out the families and give them a key, it may end up leading to something cool.

Take care.

Woodhorn are quite happy to pay something towards your expenses to cover petrol or a donation. What do you think? It won't cover hotel expenses but it'll help out with petrol.

If someone wants to PM me for discussion that would be fine.

Who wants Crash space please. I need to know numbers so I can find space (and move the back seat of my car out the living room)

We have a van to bring the gear up from mine and ill be bringing people in the car =] so theres at space for others in cars (and if i can get the breaks sorted today there will also be another car. So theres plenty of space for bodys and suitcases, and plenty of room for peeps to crash at mine =]

Is the event mostly indoor or outdoors? I'm thinking of bringing a few friends with small children (mine are all a bit bigger) but don't wanna stand outside in the rain too long with the little ones. Indoor, outdoor? Weather forecast looks a bit mixed at the moment.

Woodhorn will have a big marquee tent (like the beer tents at LARPS) as well as the building where the static exhibits are and the main museum building which is on two or three levels. Pray to whatever god(s) you worship for good weather this sunday.
