The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Can anyone verify that the Ithaca M37 'Shorty' was used in Aliens? If so, are there any good airsoft replicas?

I'm trying to track down the correct version (for display) so any help would be useful. :)

Guardian Matsuo is the one you seek. His Board He makes a resin Ithaca M37. In fact, I just ordered one today! His products are of excellent quality. Pick up some 10x24mm & 10x28mm rounds & Vaz's pistol while your at it! Cool props

Hi Mike

I'm only too aware of the quality hive that is Matsucorp!... he built my PR. 8) I now have a Vasquez M39 but I'm debating between an M37 and the flamer unit to complete the firearms section. If M37 I want to at least look into airsoft if they're available. :)

The Ithaca M37 is Hicks' favourite shotty- it has a pistol grip (contrary to the popular "sawed off" looking grip):

This is my airsoft Ithaca:

By Dong San (sp?)- it is the closest airsoft version I've seen. The only difference is Hicks' Ithaca had a forward iron sight:

I got mine from www.modelmarts.com back in 2002.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Kevin.

Are they still trading? Also, what about the barrel - is it filled like I see in a few of the product shots? :)

The barrel has a concave "funnel" that tapers down to the 6mm pellet barrel.

You have to register to buy anything- I haven't bought from them in 5 years so I can't really say if they are still selling.

However I'm sure you should be able to find a Dong San Ithaca elsewhere. :)

Wargame Club in Hong Kong www.wargameclub.com/ carries one made by KTW when they're in stock. Don't know about the quality or anything.

The Dong San isn't very powerful but for the price it's pretty well made. I bought one a while ago and ended up putting it inside my hero morita shell.

Indeed.

Everyone of my airsoft purchases are for looks alone. I've never skirmished, and don't even go plinking anymore.

That's the one I have - I lost the magazine ( Clips into the shell tube from the front ) so decided to fill said tube with pennies for added weight.
It's sweet now, very hefty :)

Also check out another slightly different (trigger guard and grip) airsoft replica of the Ithaca M37.
This version is made by "Cybergun" (www.cybergun.com)
and is called the "Auto Hardball II"

Also comes in clear version:

I've found a Dong San (thanks, SAS) - is it possible to black-out the silver furniture?

Sure, but is the surface difficult to key? It's chromed, right? :)

A little sandpaper and a coat of primer should give you enough of a surface for the paint to grab onto.

I'm just here to point out the obvious. ;)

You might even use a fine grade steel wool as opposed to actual sand paper.

Mesa thinkin'. Which is usually quite dangerous.

What about the M37 Police Shorty? That has all-black furniture so (apart from the sight) isn't it more accurate?
