The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Signed! Given the sorry state of female roles in both science fiction films and video games I'm sorry to see Gearbox missing such a great opportunity to follow James Cameron's lead. Some of Alien's most bad-ass characters are female for goodness sake!

Been trying to stay out of this thread, given the unrest over the most recent AVP...

But, having seen the trailer at Prometheus last night, I'm getting very eager to give this a play!

I'll be honest, i thought it was silly the petition.

But thinking about it, It's fair!

Signed

Good Luck!

There are enough female gamers out there that playing a female character should be a standard option.

But since the whole of Alien 1-4 and now Prometheus is pretty much all about strong female characters, omitting that basic aspect is just wrong.
About 30% of the LV-426 mission is female and all would be dead if it weren't for the main one.

Someone from AL linked to an article on Farcebook about sexism in the geek world. This just makes it more evident.

I only hope SEGA agree and Gearbox have enough time to add the ladies in...

Is it just a matter of a head swap, or would it be more involved? I'm tempted to quote Hudson's jab at Vasquez, but seriously: Dietrich in armor looks pretty damn similar to the other grunts (except for height).

100% agree there should be a playable female rosta however considering the considerable delay already and assuming sega will be keen to get this out there to meet the last announced release date, it seems unlikely this will happen.

How much work would he invovled to develop the character designs? Assume they would have to do additional mocap sessions as well?

Hmm, that "certificate" looks pretty lame. Of course I don't knwo what a real-world equivalent would look like so maybe it's not so bad? I'll have to do some research I guess...

In the 10 minute walk through video were the creators are commenting on the game they say they used the Tech Manual a lot for reference. But does that mean Lee and Nigel will be paid for their work? Doubtful.

Petition signed! It simply wouldn't feel true to Aliens with no bumpy Marines in the game, and it's not really fair to any female gamers to have no choice but to play as males only. Nuff said. :delta:

I ordered the limited edition today as well, even though I don't actually own a game system. Everyone said to go with XBox, so that's what I did; I honestly don't know the pros and cons of either (nor do I care).
I mentioned to the manager my recent adventure bringing a Pulse Rifle to the theater for Prometheus and she got a gleam in her eye. I might work something out with her to have a Colonial Marine in-store when the game is released (kind of like what Sean and Co. are doing for SEGA, only much less cool). Has anyone else considered doing something like this? Just curious as we have MONTHS to plan it. :delta:
