I don't know how I missed this either! this is my favorite kind of thread and it's been brilliant seeing the progress you've made from scratch! Well done!!! I'm sure that I remember the original airlock being part of Gary/John's collection at alien war london? I could be mistaken on that as I never actually saw it but I clearly remember us being told that the airlock release from the movie was going to be installed in the set to activate the self destruct before jumping in the lift. I was excited about seeing it but it didn't happen in the short time that I was there.

This would make the ultimate man-cave light switch or even the worlds most impressive toilet flush!

the handle components look like foamex to me, something we have shedloads of at work

foamex is great stuff
so easy to work with and shapes well
i've built tonnes of stuff out of it and its damn cheap

Mars, If you look at the original, it looks, by the weathering/scratches, like it was whitish painted red.
