The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Crap. I forgot about C&E!

Everyone OK splitting in equally if I get bent over and asked to think of England by the thieving gits at Royal Mail?
( Since it's them more than C&E that rip you off with unfair charges... )

Kona - LED mods work out at about £20 for the 12v battery and LED bulb, but would add quite a bit to the weight for shipping. I'm waiting on stock coming in on the batteries so I can check that, but I reckon it'll bump the shipping cost up to £8.24 Standard Parcles + £1 for insurance.

As an example I bought a kit from the US recently which cost me $350.00 which was the value the sender put on the customs form (I forgot to ask him to mark the value lower).

The charge was £44.77, being £36.77 VAT and £8.00 ParcelForce clearance fee.

Thanks for pointing out about customs Harry.

If Reverend is hit for a customs cost (and customs wonder why they are so unpopular ) I will certainly be paying my share.

I got hit when I bought my Motion Tracker second hand.

First off, I got the letter telling me that they were holding a package - "We have paid Customs Fees for you. You may now pick up your package from our depot at your convenience. Simply pay our clearance fees, and you can have your goodies."

Sorry? At my WHAT?!

If I have to go all the sodding way to the Royal Mail depot because they now refuse to deliver any package with Customs charges... I'd far bloody rather go to the Customs depot myself, and cut out Royal Mail's thieving, greedy buggering middlemen!

It annoys me immensly when I'm waiting for something to arrive and then finally I get a letter stating that I have to pay charges before they will deliver it.

In the past I have checked incoming items on the web and seen on the tracking info that there has been charges applied and that it is at the local depot awaiting payment. I have then phoned the depot and asked to pay the charges at which point I have been told I have to wait for the letter to arrive telling me that they want me to pay some charges !!!!

I fail to see why an item that doesn't incur charges from C&E should be delivered no problem but an item with charges, which were applied not by Royal mail or Parcel force (so no admin costs), should suddenly mean it costs them more, when in fact they are saving money by refusing to deliver the bloody thing until you go and pay for it.

Do we have an ETA on when the lamps will be sent?

<span style="color:red;]I'm not chasing this up, just that I'm going to Australia (for three weeks) in a couple of months, so don't want to miss the delivery while I'm over there. :)

It was sent on the 14th, It's hard to say how far it's gotten, I have to go to the post office to check the status I can't do it on line.
It was a huge box cost me nearly $100 to ship.
I packaged each lamp in it's own box and then all went in a larger box.
