The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'm making slow progress, but progress none the less.

All the painting is now done on everything except the helmet (which is still under construction). The chest, back and top shoulder pieces still need to be weathered. Then I have the fun of strapping it all.

BDUs have gone in to be altered. I went with the Polish Desert camo. The right leg pocket is being moved and the collar is being changed. They should be ready by Friday.

Tonight I have finished my first piece:

Also a friend did some nice graffiti on my shoulder bells for me:

Well finally finished my armour last week and got the chance to wear it at a huge event in Colchester on Saturday.

There are a few things I still need to tweak. I need to bring the chest up a little higher and try to figure out how to make the helmet fit a little better.

That is kick ass, Marine! Nice job! You have a nice screen accurate looking paint job there, which is really nice to see! :D

Looking great.

Can you adjust the band in the helmet liner for a better fit?

Buuuuut, sorry my pet hate, the helmet cam is way out of place. It is supposed to point where you are looking, not up at the ceiling.
Have a look at the Hudson helmet on Harry's site - http://www.harryharris.com/armour.htm

The main reason my cam is pointing so far up is that I have to have the helmet so far back on my head. If I wear the helmet properly its ok.

The liner isn't a real M1 liner I dont think and isn't adjustable.

The height of the chest/back armour looks fine, or is it causing problems in some way where it is?

Looks really good though. 8) :delta:

I just feel it could do with being an inch or two higher. That would also cover the top button.

Ok, only trying to help, but did you compare your camera position to the one on Harry's site I gave just for reference?
IMHO it should be a little lower on the helmet and angled down.
From your pic it looks like you'd have to have your helmet over your eyes for the camera to be pointing forwards.

What liner is in it, any pics?

the height you have is probably ok, but by trimming your collar to correct style means you have created a more noticable gap as your collar no longer sits down where it did - see my pic here on my unaltered collar.

your chest piece looks to sit roughly where mine does - on the bottom of the button - i simply made a neck liner to bring mine up higher without having to alter anything:

the neck liner bit was simply a bit of leatherette from hobbycraft, folded in half and stitched, then superglued on, may be a quick fix for you to try - was about 3.50 for half a metre of material

Punkmarine, my cam might be a little too high, but it's too late to change now as it's held on pretty tight. I did look at quite a few reference shots when putting it on, but could still be slightly out.

Here's the liner:
Image

At the moment when I wear the helmet properly it just sits my forehead and the back of the head, which is quite painful. I'm thinking of removing the webbing and just padding it out with some foam.

You can't adjust the liner because your missing the leather headband which clips onto the webbing cross straps. It's pretty easy to get one, try eBay or Soldier Of Fortune

as above - the band is likely the source of the helmet hurting and not sitting right:

Also known as the sweat band, had a quick look and there's some on ebay.

Well got my files and printing them on paper to trial the size before I print on card. Is there diagrams or tutorials on strapping placements etc as I've searched and googled them and no results.
