The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Did anyone here get their HCG PR from Propstore London? And if so was there any issues with the droop. I am 5 payments into my 6 pay installments and Propstore have been holding a Brown Bess for me. Hope it doesn't have the droop.

I did.

Before they shipped it to me they assured me they'd "check to make sure it's perfect for you."

When it arrived it had a droop, also a jammed stock and battery port/mag (both unjammed by me).

So I doubt they did any check.

I must admit that in my excitement to own a "genuine" PR I didn't do much research in to alternatives but I know myself well enough that if I haven't scratch/kit built one myself by now I never will, so the HCG one was perfect for me.

All this talk of droop or whatever doesn't really bother me either. While I agree that you are entitled to be a bit pedantic about quality when you spent nearly $1000 but I've seen some pictures of the droop and it's not something I would cancel my order over, obviously people have different standard/needs and I do understand why some people would be disapointed.

Having said that, I posted about my problems importing the HCG PR in the "australian PR" thread but nobody has responded yet so I'm hoping I don't break any rules by cross posting to this thread in the hope someone can help me, please?

Well, After finally making my 6th and final payment with Propstore I recieved my HCG PR last week. I LOVE IT!!!!!! I think that I have been really lucky in that there appears to be no noticeable droop or other any other defect. I thought I knew what to expect from the PR as I have seen all the pics in the various threads on this and other forums, but I was blown away by the sheer quality and craftsmanship of it! I do feel for anyone who understandably feels dissatisfied with theirs as there really are some horrendous pics out there showing severe droops/mis-allignment etc but I am over the moon with mine. Can't get over the weight and sturdyness of it! I don't collect props and have no interest in guns but like many here after seeing ALIENS in '86 fell in love with this iconic weapon, who would have thought that 25 years later I would have my very own to fondle/caress/smooch! I am thinking now that I need an aluminium flight case to keep the beauty in. Any suggestions?

Well, RIPSTICK is the new proud owner of #597; and , he and I exchanged some data about a problem some others have experienced: DO NOT DO WHAT CPL. HICKS SAYS.. "get another one , and slap it in hard" when refering to inserting a magazine. Take it from me folks, I let my MAG slide home with moderate force, and the base plate promptly shattered into 3 large, and several small pieces of clear(painted over) and very brittle resin  !!! All this on the very day I finallized the sale to RIPSTICK. :?

Fortunately, there is a happy ending. One E-mail to HCG; on a Saturday, brought an immediate response from Collin Bowman at HCG. I attached a picture of the damage, and, AGAIN,an immediate response was given : "we are sending out a complementry replacement magazine". It arrived in 6 days :D ( California to Connecticut).

When I informed RIPSTICK of the problem, he stated that he was aware of several MARINES who have experienced the very same problem.

Please forgive me if this topic has already been broached: I dont have the time to read 31 pages worth of posts, and I felt that with all the BAD press that HCG has recieved on the M41-A, some good customer service NEWS was warranted, as well a caution on "John Wayne'ing...(or Hicks'ing in this case  ) MAG insertions. My only comment to HCG would be on material selection for the MAG base plate.......you chose...poorly

STAY FROSTY MARINES.......and keep in touch........ RIPSTICK.... take care of "597"... may it serve you well............ :delta:

Well I was hoping to score this yesterday... but it went waaaaay over what I planned on bidding-

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Aliens-Pulse-Rif ... 3f0cc33794

I set myself a limit of $600 (even that was a little high for me, but figured I wouldn't be able to snag it for less). When the auction jumped up to $665, I said forget it. :(

Really sucks as this was already in Canada (thereby putting my paranoid mind at ease  ).

Oh well. Next time.

Can't you just get one in the US and get somebody to mule it for you?

I thought they only searched Canadians coming TO the USA. :)

Might want to ask Rob how "friendly" our Customs officers are these days.

Apparently things have changed.

And really it wouldn't be right to ask someone to bring it across for me (just on the odd chance they get searched and receive a big WTF! reaction).

Besides half the point of trying to snag this auction was the hope I could get it for much less than the going price.

I still have my Matsucorp v1.0 PR. Just going to have to wait until I can find a metal stock and vent for an upgrade. :)

Or, you know, move here. :)

I've been keeping my eye open for a broken, droopy, low cost HGC myself lately. I'm hoping to snag one for about the same budget Kevin set for himself. Mind you, that recently went to fixing my damn car instead.

Good luck Sarge.

I got a modified HCG shroud for that much, never regretted it. Look into it, then upgrade.

How many little old ladies did everyone need to rob in order to pay for their pulse rifles. This thing is expensive!

Not that I was looking to acquire another HCG pulse rifle, but I couldn't help but come across one that only a few days ago sold on eBay with a BIN for $465.00 + $42.00 USD. It was the standard Brown Bess version - which I prefer anyways - and had a repaired magazine, but for a grand total of $507 someone definitely got a deal.

I can only assume the seller fell on hard times and needed some fast cash.

I know how that can be... but I will NEVER sell my HGC pulse rifle. Never I say.

Monsters in Motion occasionally acquires limited numbers of items from other sources, which is probably what's happened here. I believe HCG still has a wait list up on their site, but they've been "sold out" of both versions for quite some time as far as I know.

They could be selling the returns, refurbed them like Matt said and selling them again.
I wonder how many we're returned.
