The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey guys I am assembling a dropship pilot cossie, which to begin w will be pretty simple, with the hopes of upgrading slowly to a spunkmeyer replica.

Anyhoos, I am stuck at the holster at the mo.
1. I have seen the maa.replicas, but have also heard of recent problems.... What other options are there?
2. How does spunkmeyer actually.mount the holster, it looks like its.hanging loose under the flak jacket
3. How do other pilots mount their holsters.atm?
4. Are there other acceptable air crew options eg colt 45?
5. Are there rifle options for pilits/air crew?

Thx guys

1. Anything that is plain OD green with a flap will look pretty good. Plain black ones also work well enough. I've used both, along with a WW2 tan shoulder holster for a .45 1911 (they come in black, or can also be painted green).

2. I believe he has a belt or shoulder strap, like a sash, on which the holster is mounted. I tried this once, but couldn't get it quite right.
Come to the NSC and ask Daniel Kash, maybe?

3. As above.

4. I use a 1911 myself, mainly because I broke my VP70. Realistically, I think almost any pistol would be OK, since personal sidearms seem permitted in the squad.
The South African Vektor pistol looks quite futurey...

5. There have been EU (Extended Universe, ie non-canon) versions of the Pulse Rifle made up, carbines and the like. The L85 (or SA-80 as it's known) is pretty short and is seen on screen in the armoury racks.

Remember though that you're a pilot - If you find yourself in a situation where you have to use your pistol, especially inside your craft, the LAST thing you want is a burst of automatic high-powered rifle fire ripping the craft open!

If you do decide on something bigger than a pistol, make sure it's small enough to keep out of the way and will not blow a hole in the Dropship.
There are such weapons out there - Check out PDWs (Personal Defense Weapons) and consider tarting up one of the smaller Nerf guns. Some look really cool if you're good enough with a paintbrush and stick a few greeblies on it!

Don't forget to keep us appraised of your progress!!!

How about the carbine version of the L85/SA80 designed for tank crews?

Spunkmeyer wore a pistol belt:

"Bandoleer" style over his left shoulder and across his chest.

He wore the standard USCM holster with the flap turned backwards over the belt to act as an improvised belt loop.

You can barely make out the "gromets" of the pistol belt in this (very large) pic:

I would stick with the VP-70, and add the burst stock.

Yeah, I've always been a fan of the HK "solid" VP70 stock, and personally feel it would be a near perfect backup weapon.

If they made 30 round extended mags for the VP70 it would be perfect. :)

You could go with a drop leg rig and remove the extender. Blackhawk makes an OD green flap holster that is "quilted"
like the VP70 holster.

If you go expanded universe, in the AvP2 video game, we see what looks like an MK23 SOCOM pistol with a LAM unit attached,
or possibly a USP.

By "solid" I actually meant the "holster" version which makes it look like the illegitimate son of an MP5. :)

I put together an EU pilot myself; not a Dropship pilot but more of a fighter jock.

I'm carrying a SW4506 (painted to look like Vaz's M39)-

The holster is just a plain airsoft holster that I attached to the survival vest.
