Guys and Gals,
I am new to the site and have a couple of questions and before I ask I am not trying to rock the boat or make anyone mad,
I found this site after looking for the old MAA site. ( I finally have a job good enough to get a set of SA BDU).
Well here is the question has anyone tried to find someone to reprint and make the BDUs?
The reason I ask is I reenact WWII both Allied and Axis and I can now get just about every camo pattern uniform, some bad and some very very good.

Agian I am not trying to make anyone mad just a question.

There's been a few mutterings, but nobody's wanted to put their cash into it.

You can get some fairly close standard camos, such as Polish Desert Camo, so it's only the die hard of us that strive to be as close as possible.

If you're here for a while, a set of MAA BDUs might come up for sale in our Base PX section (hidden from new members) once in a while, so by all means stick around.

Speaking of bdus. I've seen the website for uscm bdus but I assume they are long out of production. Was that someone here that did those?

Has anyone tried the Czech VZ95 uniform? I have not checked out the Polish Desert Camo.

I saw the VZ95 stuff a while back while searching for bdu's. Personally i thing pattern wise its quite close, and if you could bleach out some of the colour, even better. Only thing was i couldn't find it for sale easily. I did find sites like this but im unsure if its a wholesaler, surplus shop or something else:

Having a quick gander about on that site, i might try and get hold of something like the helmet cover and see how it matches up (going on the picture on that site, im no expert but it looks like a M1 style helmet underneath)

Edit: After doing some very complicated computer stuff involving quantum equasions and logical algorithms (actually, i just accepted i was an idiot and pressed the great big 'Google Translate' button), it looks like a surplus shop (and a good one!). If prices are in Korunas, new trousers and shirts are about £36, used ones half that. Helmet covers are about a tenner so at some point i'll get in touch with the shop and see how much postage is.

I need help with it. I bought some from an rod seller a year ago and remember seeing a website where they put their suit up against a screen used. I have tried to google it and I can't find the site. Any help from those better searchers out there?

Typing on the phone is pretty terrible. What I was going for was that i picked up this set of bdus from a seller on the RPF. "Rod Seller" This is the label in the shirt. I still can't find the website, but I remember them showing their bdu and a set of screen used. Maybe this will help. Found the website: http://www.triotech.demon.co.uk/uscm/ The photos make the fabric look browner than it really is. It is much greener in person.

A relatively small run of these BDUs were made about 8 or 9 years ago. They are considered to be very accurate and highly rare.

If you come across pictures of Chris Chulamanis, his BDUs were from this maker. I think he told me they were $300 back in 2003 (might be taking into account the exchange rate back then).

And yes- (having seen Chris' set in person several times) they do look a bit more "green" in real life.

I've always thought that Safriflage was the closest camo out there. The colors are pretty darn close. The thing with the USCM camo is that it's kinda tan-ish and kinda green-ish. You just don't see that in actual military camo.

Alternatively I have a few EDRL shirts for sale. all Med-Reg and 1969-dated, and semi-faded. I was going to sell them to reenactors, but I could sell them here too.

Safariflage has the same sort of coloring, but not the adjusted Frog & Leaf shapes like Polish Desert does.

I got the polish desert camo that PVB posted above. They actually look pretty good. Haven't decided yet if I'm gonig to adjust the colours yet or not as with the amount of BDU on show under the armour might be a very timely task when the main bit you see is the legs.

This is what I was thinking my only issue is I got them both in small and I still look like I'm trying to wear big brothers clothes cause they still drown me.

Don't worry about the bagginess. Mine are the complete opposite, very snugly fit and sharp-loooking, but SO wrong for a Colonial Marine!

Now that I actually own a set to compare (the meerkat), Safariflage does look pretty crap. More like a 'pastel' version of UK DPM

Saw this the other day - Officer dude (not the blue bereted Armenians):

Hehehe! The shirt doesn't look too bad but the trousers could do with having the legs taken in. The cheap and cheerful way of doing it is turning them inside out, put them on, get someone to pin the legs to the width you want, take them off, sew along the pin line, cut off the excess (if you want to) and then turn them right side out again. I've done it with a couple of t-shirts but never tried it with trousers.
