The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

:D

This is my half-arsed MP5 Swordfish.

I made it using a cheap MP5 AEG, an OEM Swordfish muzzle break and the entirely WRONG First Factory
Nitro VO top rail (I was told it was an MP5 rail, turns out it's actually for the HK MC51, and doesn't work
quite right.)

It also has a knockoff Eotech Holosight and magnifier.

Now the search begins for a REAL MP5 VO top rail. :(

Mmm, nice Swordfish strike kit. I always wanted one of these for a MP5K.

I had never heard of this type until you showed it here. Man, what a beast looking MP5! Hope you find the right parts for it!

Where did you get that Muzzle Break? What types does it work with?

That's the First Factory "Swordfish" muzzle break. I believe it will work with the MP5/K and possibly the G3/MC51.
You need the nitro VO top rail though, as the front sight is replaced by the rail kit, and a long bolt goes through the
muzzle break, sight replacement and into the top rail.

Still ticked at Airsoft Extreme for selling me the wrong darn top rail. :( Morons.

I got the muzzle break from a guy at Arnies Airsoft forums in the UK, and one of our fine British brothers brought it to me
at Dragoncon and saved me an additional $45 shipping. :)

I'm kind of surprised nobody has ever used the style on a real steel weapon. It would totally fit in a scifi movie, or
Resident Evil sequel. :)

Definitely. I could see this weapon being used in a Sci Fi movie. A simple kit like this can make a modern day weapon look more futuristic. Post a pic when you've got her fixed.

Does it feel front heavy? Or does it balance well with the rest of the AEG?

Heh. Rookie, where are you located? I'm up in Bemidji.

Without a battery in the stock, it's a little front heavy... but then, there was no mag... and a boatload of optical gear too. :)

All told I imagine it weighs around... 5-6 lbs or so without battery or mag.

My Pulse Rifle is getting tinkered with too much these days to make normal appearances for the Airsoft Games I frequent. This Swordfish MP5 looks neat enough to have me consider building one as my backup. I'm tired of borrowing M4s. Everyone and their mom has an M4.

M4's are pretty nice for woodlands sites. I use an Mp5 as my primary, but I'm looking at getting an M4, because the midcaps work alittle better - The u bend in MP5 mags means they feed like a piece of shit.

I didn't think of the structure of the mag affecting it like that. Good point.

It's not that I dislike M4s... I just see them all the time. Showing up to games with my Pulse Rifle sets me apart from the others, which I kinda like. I suppose I just like having something that folks haven't seen all the time.

Ah, I miss those days. :) My group split up when real life caught up with everyone (married/jobs/etc.).

Is your group in the MAA (Minnesota Airsoft Association)?

I started out in "modern" airsoft with an MP5A4 in 1997. You really learn trigger
control when a high cap has only 200 rounds... as opposed to 600 with an AK. :)

My first airsoft I got back in 1989-90. A single shot Walther P38.

I too stayed away from any M16 variant for years, simply because everyone
else had them. My group pretty much ran with H&K variants, MP5's, G3's, etc. :D

I'm getting a Magpul Masada pretty soon. Now I just need to make it to a
skirmish so I can justify the purchases. :)

Um, with respect but that's just rubbish ... I suspect the issue is more a case of the mags you've been using (or perhaps the brand of AEG).
Having owned 1x TM MP5 and 3x TM MP5Ks [and for a little while I owned all 4 at the same time], I've ONLY ever had feed issues with MAG MP5 mags and that's basically cause you get what you pay for so is to be expected. I've also had feed issues with MAG M4 mags btw.

Old school, mold school. :p

Then I guess you don't want to look at my Magpul Masada then. :D

Right now my arsenel includes...

MP5 Swordfish bastard (AEG)
M4 Thunder maul (AEG)
Magpul Masada (AEG, Transformers 3 NEST Trooper model, Next week!)
MP5A5 (AEG, Stargate SG-1 version)
P90 (AEG, Red Dot version)
2 - KJW M9 Berettas (gas)
Mad Max style Double Barrel shotgun (gas)
WA2000 sniper rifle (spring)

Oh, and my Pulse Rifle which has the Marui M1A1 and the gas Tanio Koba M870 shotgun. :)

I'd still like to get either a VietNam XM 177E2, or an M733 Blackhawk Down style carbine.

King Arms mags almost always need some lubrication to get them to feed right. I have King Arms Thompson mags that needed it too and that's just a straight shot!

I had a Hudson DX but sold it after getting a Wa Shan (as it's actually skirmishable with).
