The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Randy Pitchford from Gearbox has confirmed that the WiiU version will use the new controller for 3 purposes:

1) As a motion tracker
2) For the blueprint display, like Hudson used in Hadley's Hope
3) For a hacking minigame

#1 just sold me on the WiiU.

thanks for the info, I didnt want to spend extra money on the Xbox, my extra money will go towards the different game versions. Do anyone if retailers will have a pre-order skins? it would be fun to run around as Hicks or Hudson in the game.

Does anyone know if you can use the Move/SharpShooter controller with it? I've recently played Killzone 3 with the gun and it was excellent. Shooting a PR with my Move gun would be really good. I found it much easier to aim with the gun than with a stick.

Glad to see this thread is still alive, lol.
Also glad to hear that the game is still going strong. I'm a pro-PC guy so I will most likely be getting this for my rig.

I hope the story in the game will be strong enough to be considered a true sequel to Aliens... seeing as Gearbox, Sega and the press are really hyping it up as such.

There's a HUGE write-up on A:CM on Kotaku today, including Pitchford explaining the plot line. Some may consider it spoiler-ific, but of that sort of thing doesn't bother you, here's a LINK.

A couple of things I find interesting in the article are (1) the Colonial Marines come with more than just half a platoon this time. Way more, like an entire transport ship full. (2) The developers tapped the Tech Manual to flesh the game out more, so we will likely notice references, gear, etc. that weren't in the film. Still, I don't see an explanation for how the colony survived the nuclear detonation of the atmosphere processor's power plant.

I cannot stand Kotaku, but just this once, I'll risk it. :p

One paragraph in however:

Kotaku wrote:
In Aliens, Colonial Marines fly in to reestablish contact with the colonists who have stopped reporting in. They discover Aliens and with the help of Ellen Ripley, all die trying to kill them off. Ripley, the android Bishop, and the child Newt all escape on the spaceship Sulaco which is destined for Earth.

If they've forgotten Hicks...

That's no worse than 90% of the thumbnail outlines of film plots in most TV Guides which are obviously written by people who've not actually watched the film and have just tried to condense the already sketchy back of the video/DVD outlines!

What's up with the Queens arms here? The big set seem to be mounted on her back somehow, not attached at all or is it just a bad angle?

Not to mention the legs ... ;)

The tension music builds as they walk through the damaged operations centre of Hadley’s Hope and we get a chance to look out over the colony. It’s a total wreck, with the familiar shell of the atmospheric processor that blew up at the end of Aliens squatting in the middle, like a popped blister the size of Nebraska. “Here we’re going to discover what happened to Hudson, Burke and all those guys who were left behind; but we’re also going to uncover new secrets.”

WIERZBOWSKI! :D

Early?

They've been on it for ages!

Edit: Spelling cock up.

The article mentioned in OXM here:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10190

Apparently there's similar ones (they're all previews, rather than reviews) in UK PC Gamer and Official Playstation Magazine too.

Official pdf of the OXM article:

http://cdn.medialib.oxm.co.uk/uploads/O ... ngpage.pdf

It shows more pics of the Xenos, confirming Gareth's observation that they seem based around Resurrection Aliens, rather than Aliens ones, with longer/narrower back tubes, longer fingers, etc. :?

Dude, you shoulda seen 'em in person. The booth was fantastic - they even rigged up a smoke machine and some erratically-flashing lights at the entrance, triggered to a magnetic switch on one of the two sliding doors. Absolutely badass.
