hello all! while thinking about how i want my complete uscm outfit to look, i thought that a gasmask would look cool with it. so my question to you is, which type and style of gasmask would the USCM use? if james Cameron had them wearing gasmasks in the movie, what would they look like?

Well for me I`d say he`d probably would have had USCM issue this style........

Or dare i say he would have used the British S6 Respirator with maybe no screw on canister,as if it`s built in.

thanks for the pics! not sure aboyt the black rubber bondage gear though haha. i want the mask to look creepy and sinister, almost evil looking. my friend has a world war one mask that scares the crap outta be, but of course its has to be from the future not the past.

I don`t see the head over WWI or US 80s style masks being the type used. Though that`s just me.

Though it`s certainly an interesting question. Suppose we could say what or how would Cameron kitted out the Colonials with various kit,that was never seen,actually created for the film.

I like that S6. Been lookin' at gas masks on ebay after seeing this thread and I gotta say, some are just plain scary. Here's one that might work, as well.

Ahhh, good ole' Navy MCU-2/P. If you want a futuristic looking gas mask, that's a pretty good choice. They're pretty common to find in surplus shops, too.

I have something similar to this in my belt kit:

oo nice finds guys! Death By Mugumba i esp like the one you posted. i really wish though there was a modern version of the WW1 mask that had the pipe coming out the mouth piece and the scary eye holes (sorry i dont know the tech terms). might see if i can "modernise" one of them.

The technical term is "Sinister Eye Holes".

Um, wrong movie there Rook. This place is about bugs and guns, not whips.

Though a whip might look good with a couple of those masks.

If we choose the S6 I'll be happy because I've already got one.

Probably similar to the full-head SCUBA gear worn in "The Abyss"

Something that does not cover up any of the actor's features.

At least that's what I think Cameron would have wanted.

Not mentioned a lot, the salvage crew in the beginning.

They are in gas masks and rolling technisub lights.

Has anybody looked into that setup?

oh my i completely forgot about the salvage teams masks. gunn ahave to watch that part now and see what they look like again.

Arn`t the salvage guys wearing Ruskie masks? or from former Easter European?
I`m probably waaay off the beaten path with that,though they do look like the type those guys used to use.

Well I was watching the movie last night till 3am (Great having babies..lol).
Anyway when it came to the salvage guys screen presence,i watched carefully.

The masks actually look like the 2nd link one`s i posted (under the British S6) earlier in this thread.They appear to be stitched to the rubber hoods,as the mask straps are visable on the outside.

So I`d say gasmask & hood are seperate items attached for the movie.
