The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

This could be a project for this coming year.

Size one: 15.5"x 32" x 1.5" (39x81x4cm)
Image

Image

Size two: 13" x 32" x 1.5" (33x81x4cm)

3D picts:

Items would be hung by modular clear acrylic hooks.
Color would be a metallic silver.

Feedback needed:

-Size 1 or 2 or another... smaller...bigger
-Depth currently would sit off the wall by 1.5in. (not sure if too much)
-Color. Might do some color options since this is an alien and SW thing too.

This is not a sales thread. Don't ask me the price. This is for feedback only. Item wouldn't be done until sometime next year.

Size 1 as mentioned to have room for extra display stuff, but I like #2 as well because it's more compact.

What material are you thinking for the backdrop? Metal? Acrylic?

Material would be metal.

I was thinking the larger size to put more stuff on too, but I could go either way.

To avoid manufacturing complexity I'm only going to do one size.

Color options is possible.

Maybe the stars wars crowd would be interested as well.

My wife and I are expecting our first in may, so need to pay down some student loans.

Run would be limited to 250 pieces.

#1 allows room for the strap to hang within the display area.

How close are you to the actual floor pattern?

There were basically 2 similar type of pallets, an older one seen in Star Wars, Alien, and Empire:

And then the revised model seen in Aliens:

Been trying to track these down for years with little luck. I DO know they're European - most likely British or German.

The pallets that go off to the side hallways in the Sentry Gun photo look like the ones used at the London Film Con. They have a different pattern.

Thanks for the feedback guys! and for the picts Willie!

I took style points mainly from this area:
Image

Of course it can not be made entirely like the plastic original, but it will be closely inspired.

When they are cutting out the floor to rescue Newt, you can see circle cut outs in the floor grid.

I could make make all the holes in the u-channel rectangular like this:

Looks like the paint flaked off these during shooting. In some of the photos the rectangle pattern is missing or they look like circles, probably due to being painted multiple times.

Here's a variant - with circles where some of the rectangles are on the other styles. I *think* both were used in the film, but it's hard to tell.
