The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Looking good marine.
I always love reading the graffiti and seeing where inspiration came from.

Mine was from the old Garfield cartoons, Father Ted and Serenity....but come to think of it I need to add a few more items :)
Now....when are you booking your flight for D*Con?

Awesome piece, easy to fit (once I built up the courage to hack holes in the liner...........looks close enough for me anyways!) and totally kicks ass when you light it up in the dark - Spat you're a legend Thanks!!!!! :D :D :D :D

Thanks! A generous glop of araldite on each edge (left and right sides) has fixed it nice and secure. And it's glued to the inside of the helmet, the liner was trimmed to make room. Upon reflection, I realised after it's actually on the wrong side of the helmet - oops!!

Actually I kind of like it on the left even though I'm right handed, but I figure a marine should be able to tweak his kit in some ways to make it more comfortable - that's my excuse anyways!

Okies HK-86, here's the pics you requested........

This shows the position (admittedly on the wrong side!!) of the sight.

I thought the sight might just fit inbetween the front middle helmet band rivet and the second, sadly not - so the strap was separated from the liner at the front position (doesn't seem to affect the helmet when wearing it).

Attachment:
sight-detail.jpg

This (hopefully) shows how the sight sits in the helmet. I pulled out the liner, aligned the sight where I was happy with it, araldited the hell out of it (didn't want it falling out!) then set to hacking apart the liner. This consisted of sitting the liner over the botom of the helmet and marking out the width of the sight. Then I cut the sides down as far as I estimated the depth of the sight to be. This turned out too shallow and I had to remove another 3/4" to get the right clearance.

Attachment:

And there you have it, simplicity in itself once you pluck up the courage to hack apart something you've been drooling over for about 7ish years - then discover it's wrong

But as a said earlier, I kind of like it on that side now, but for future reference:

CHECK, CHECK AND RECHECK BEFORE COMITTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope this helps

Steve
