The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

OK, so since DCon09 I have come into possession of some miscellaneous parts, such as the knife w/ sheath, welder, and soon to be a VP70 with no idea as to how to attach these. I want to attach the knife sheath ala Hudson on the left chest strap. What is the best way to go about doing that? What about the welder?

My Spelder is attached via a strap looped on the grenade straps belt, but I found at D*Con that it swung around a lot when I walked around:

So I ended up leaving it in the room. :?

The VP70 goes into a holster that men-at-arms sells over here:

black tape works a treat for knives, as for vp70 that should be in your holster on your belt

I used black hockey tape to attach my knife sheath to my webbing.

I have one of Chris' welders- and it uses nearly the same set up that PVB posted (and suffers the same problem so I no longer wear it... someone else can seal the door). Gun goes in a holster.

Here's mine.

Bear in mind that due to my very short body, the grenade straps are shorter than normal, so the way I fitted the sheath on might not work for normal sized folk.

Although I have an actual Gerber, the one in the sheath (for use on Drops) is a Spat blade-less one:

Thanks PVB. You have leather chest straps? That's pretty rad.

Not leather, just tan coloured webbing. :)

If you look closely, Hudson's welder was just hung from his belt with what looks like a bit of Paracord tied around it.

Whilst his done hang and flap about a bit (fnar fnar), you *could* just tie yours tighter.

The short webbing made it fit fairly tight, but it's position (right next to the top of my thigh, oo-err!) made it swing around with even just a slight leg movement. :)

Someone with a belt positioned higher up from the top of the leg might not have the same problem.

I think I'll just forgo the welder for now. My sheath is currently attached similar to yours, but I used Velcro straps rather than tape so that I can easily remove it whenever I want. I just feel it hangs too low on my chest...

I know what you mean, but Hudson's Gerber actually hangs surprisingly low on his armour:

(My apologies for the poor pic- but it shows the Gerber hanging below his web belt!)

Try it hanging from the top buckle end, like in my pics?

Here's how mine looks when I'm suited up:

@Kev: I'd like to see what happened when he sat down.  :D

Thanks Kev, I guess it's not so out of place after all.

I reckon a covertec belt clip (as used on SW prequel sabres) would be a neat solution for the welder.

I used that as the rotating mount on my welder (see pic above), but the uneven shape of the welder prevented the two halves from meeting/locking, so I used the webbing+buckle instead. :?

I seem to recall that FNG used some sort of metal clip to attach his welder to his belt?
