The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Not really the accepted standard. Pilot wings (or brevet) are worn on the left breast of the uniform... never as a cap badge.

Which raises the question I asked in the chatroom the other night are these meant to represent Pilots Wings or the USCM equivalent of current Airborne Jumpwings/Brevet or both dependent on the wearer?

Which doesn't, of course, alter the fact they wouldn't be worn on headgear!

While we never laid down any strict rules or 'meaning' to the badge, here are two quotes from Jason (whose original idea it was) during the design process:

Quote:
For me mate the idea behind this was Moreso for the Grunt`s,not the Pilots. As there are more grunt costumes than the other. So I`ve always seen this as a Combat Assault Award rather than a Pilot Wings.

Quote:
You are correct concerning the intention of this Badge. It IS indeed to simulate a Combat Drop Award for Marine Infantry/Combat Infantry Marine.

Unofficially, I think we liked the idea that it might be pewter wings awarded after first drop; silver after tenth.. or fiftieth.. something like that. (That's drops in the fictional universe of course, not RL.) There's nothing canon here, so it's all open to interpretation.

my opinion is the wongs look quite similar to the british para cap badge, which is in turn awarded similarly as wings would be awarded, and thats my idea for using a set as a capbadge, which looks awesome
