Go ahead and email Jan Price at dc_parade@yahoogroups.com , introduce yourself, and just say you're the USCM's parade liason this year- and ask to confirm we are registered for the parade.

That's what I do every year.

Rex I just went through the entire 2010 Parade Database and could find no record of us- so we're not signed up for the parade yet!

Did you add our information to the Database or did you just join the group?

I know you have to "Join this group" the first time you are on it, but you also have to add all our information in the Database section (found in the left column).

If you haven't done this yet- you need to:

-click on Database

-click on 2010 D*C Parade Registration

On the next screen in the top right corner there will be Add Record|Printable Report|Import Records|Export Table

-click on Add Record

You then just have to fill out all our information. Use your own name as Contact Name and United States Colonial Marines (USCM) as Type of Costume.

But if you already did do all this the first time around- for whatever reason it didn't actually go through, so you need to do it again.

Would it be possible for a 12-year-old to march with you in the parade? My son has been spending the past month building a M41 pulse rifle, and currently I am working on his body armor. He is real happy with how the gun turned out. He is very serious about looking like a USCM---he recently got a crewcut to look more Marine-ish. We are getting tickets to DragonCon, but he wants to see if he can be in the parade.
Also, an older girl as school told him she was going to be at the parade and she was looking forward to seeing him in it. (Don't tell him I told you.)
He wanted me to type a request to you as his dyslexia makes it difficult for him to spell properly, but he is getting less sensitive about being dyslectic since he learned that Patton had it too.

If he can sign up for the parade, his name is Max, but he wants his nickname to be Pyro.

Outstanding! We'd love to have him join the Corps! I will add him to the parade list. We do need some details however. As a minor- are you going to march with him? Leave him in our care and pick him up at the end of the parade?

If you want to leave him in our care,that's fine, but I'm not sure how to go about it. He'll be safe, no worries, I just don't know if there is some sort of waiver, or what details, if any, we might need.

You're getting him a DragonCon Badge, so he'll be okay to march in the Parade. Also, have him Register for the Forum and he or you please post in the Introductions thread.

Hey! It's my job to embarrass the Marines in the parade!

The PR looks great - looking forward to meeting ya both.

Just let Jan Price know that there will be a member not in costume (as it is one of the requirements of being in the parade) who wishes to be "off to the side" slightly for the purpose of keeping a watchful eye etc. (Just explain the whole thing to her- she'll understand and is pretty easy going).

I had a similar situation last year with someone who was going to be a photographer for us, and wished to be on the street with the parade, but not in costume and (I believe) without a ribbon.

In that situation Jan said that she would inform parade security (yes they have that ) that there would be this "non-costumed" member with us.
