The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Oh no, I just read that prices are fluctuating so I wanted to post the price I saw in case it changed.

I have to say I'm in the same camp here. I would have had to purchase a BluRay player as well for this- now it doesn't seem as worth it.

I don't have an HD tv either... so that's on the wish list too.

I'm sure sometime down the road i will own this as part of my collection; just not when it is immediately released.

I wasn't going to buy it either (due to the doc being left out), but the egg was too tempting. :D

I'm probably going to buy the version with the egg - I don't even own a bluray player, But I figure I'll get one at some point, and then I'll buy the quadrilogy, so why not get it first, and enjoy my illuminated Egg statue?

Those images have been cleaned up amazingly well. The grain has been toned down nicely yet not eliminated and there's not a hint of compression on those stills (see the enlargements at W's link). Gonna look pretty sharp when it's moving. A great result for fans of the film as well as the cinephiles. :)

Yup, couldn't have put it better myself. :)

Would have liked to see a few pics of the helmet cam footage to see how that held up, but will wait and see. 8)

Alien is being shown on Channel 4 HD at the moment.

Not sure if it's actually an HD version, but the visuals look really good, considering the film's over 30 years old. 8)
