The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'll be honest ever since the announcement that the Documentary was rejected i wont be buying the Anthology. Not only would i be purchasing the anthology but i'd need a player as well and its cost prohibitive.

I'll just wait for the extra scenes to be You tubed.

I'll buy it. But then I'd buy a dried-up dog turd if it had a picture of an Alien on the front of the box (I own 2 copies of AvP:R ....).

That said, none of the listed extras really excite me at all - I just want it for the cleaner HD versions of the films. I hope they do the transfers right - the HD versions that are currently "available" are really nice (especially the DVHS rip of ALIEN), and hopefully these will be similar but with less compression.

That would be a shame Richard, since there's so much on there to enjoy. Really, a wealth of material that'll take you ages to watch and longer still to absorb.

Seeing the films in high definition alone will be awesome. Blu Ray hasn't been the same incremental step up in quality compared to VHS > DVD which is one reason sales have been poor. I'll only replace a few faves with BD, and this series tops the list.

When I saw Man on Fire, Avatar and Kingdom of Heaven on BD I was really blown away by the image quality. Alien will be incredible.

I probably will buy it but not until i get a player which wont be at the prices they are now. Give it a few years and the costs will drop. As you say the leap up from BR from DVD isnt that high so for a lot of people like me the extra cost is a restriction. Besides im not going to replace all my DVD's (and their are a lot) with BR's at this late stage in the game.

PS: the cryo pods look very cool!

Scroll down some more to see the awesome set for the upcoming 'The Walking Dead' tv show which will own us all later this year.

Despite the crowds looks like a great show to go to.

Which Xeno didn't read the copy, then, eh?

Here it is mate:
Quote:
from Preview Night is Fox’s awesome set-up advertising the Alien Quadrilogy Blu-Ray. Not only did they have the suspended animation pods from the Nostromo (manned by Weyland-Yutani employees… don’t trust ‘em!), but they were giving away t-shirts that said “Need a Hug?” on the front. You lift up the shirt and cover your face with it, like a toddler and there’s a face-hugger on the inside of the shirt.

How cool/nerdy is that?!

Eagle-eyed PVB does it again. Be great if Fox did something similar here at a convention.
Or even got you guys involved, somehow. That would be worth me filming. Gareth?

What I'm looking forward to most is the previously unseen original cut of Wreckage and Rage: The Making of ALIEN3. Should be revealing.

The Burke cocoon scene is essential and this whole MU-TH-UR index/scene accessing thingy looks interesting.
And Harry Harris spent months (I kid you not) scanning his polaroids and many unseen photo's that will now been seen on this set.

I have to admit the Alien 3 features are the first to be watched when I get it. I also noticed that the features on the main movie disc of Alien 3 says "Deleted and Extended Scenes" I'm hoping we'll see something from the workprint or to quote Bishop "...Something we haven't seen yet"

Are both sets identical, apart from the packaging? £45 is okay, but £80 is pushing it a bit.

AFAIK, yes, both identical apart from the Alien/egg case.

I understand it's made by Sideshow Collectibles, so £35 is a fair price, IMHO. :)

That price has to be wrong, surely? :?

Edit:

Just checked my usual BD import site and they're selling the US disc only version for £89.99 and the egg version for £179.99, so I hope Play.com have their prices correct. :?

Edit2:
Play.com have changed their prices a little.

I originally posted:

Now they're £89.99 and £37.99 respectively.

Not saying I didn't believe you.

Makes me wonder about the Play.com prices now, but I guess as my order's already in with them I'll just have to wait and see.
