The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I don't use Resistors on my LED counters. And in 6 years of making them, I don't think the battery on one that I've had in my Rifle has ever died. I don't use the LED a lot, but either way, they last a LONG time on 2 AA batteries.

Ahh, there you go then... you are using 2 AA batteries (3v) I'm using a PP3 battery (9v) so I really did need the resistors on my circuit! I could have used 2 AAs but really wanted the convenience of having a single battery that didn't require an additional holder. I just soldered on a connector, wrapped the battery in a little packing foam to stop it rattling inside the gun and shoved it up the ammo slot!

I'd be interested to know which would last longer (in continuous use) but I'm not wasting a £4 battery to find out!

Sorry for the bump of doom (and of my own thread) but this puppy is now "finished" and on my wall so I thought I'd share a few pictures!

It's been a hectic few months so I've not been able to post much

1) PC "Broke" (kept randomly shutting down. One sec it was working fine then suddenly dead) thought it was PSU, turned out to be bad memory module. Too bad I had already bought a replacement power supply!
2) Had my flat cavily walls insulated, they blew the gasket off the boiler and FILLED the place with wall insulation! It was bad! (link 1 Link 2 Link 3)
3) PC got a NASTY virus (after letting a mate borrow it to check his emails) and even my best efforts to remove it couldnt shift it, so a re-format was in order... finally got 90% of the software I use back on.
4) Seem to have had a solid month of BBQ's, Birthdays, Stag Do and a Wedding to attend to so online time has suffered! (I havent even played any online xbox games for over a month!)

But I'm back now and I got my rifle and home made display stand done a littlwe while back. It's up on the wall in my lounge... thanks for all your help marines, couldn't have built it without you! I thought you'd like to see a few photos!

Thanks guys, I do wonder if the green is a little too dark having seen other pics but it might just be lighting and what-have-you! (The can DID say it was "olive drab")

Sorry guys, but I just had to bump that thread. First to tell Tyger that his PR looks ridiculously good, and second because this thread is full of neat little tricks for a build.

So, um... Great job, man! :D
