The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi folks.
Been thinking i'd like to clean my original marine fatigues.
You may remember just over a year ago the trauma i had trying to get them back from an ex?
You might also recall that, when i won the clobber, it was still covered with concrete dust from the filming of Aliens but, when i got them back, they were grubbier than when i last saw them.
Would like to get that grubbiness off.
But how?
I tried wiping with a damp cloth and that worked a bit - but tried lightly on the patches and found straight away they ain't colourfast
So that really restricts what i can do.
Just wondering if anyone can suggest something other than the above?

Despite the name Dry Cleaning still uses fluids which will likely destroy the patches if they're not colour-fast to a damp cloth!

I'd say keep them as they are unless you are 100% sure of what you are doing!

How about a picture? That'd make it easier to give some advice...

Cheers,

As much as I'd hate to suggest it, I'd say remove the patches and THEN get them cleaned and sew them back on later.

As unpleasent a prospect this is- it may be the only viable option.

(No offense to Russ- as I could literaly feel the angst in his post).
