The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Regarding the Deck36 tracker...

I think part of the problem that people had with it WAS the fact that they didn't receive one...

...even after paying the $300+ for the kit.

It was (and still is) a very nice piece of work. Too bad there was only one man doing the work.

Exactly Russ. It shouldn't have ended up the way it did and the whole thing was very dissapointing.

Cheers

but that version seems still correct to 97%

Does that mean you've found a source for that version?

Spellbinder, after seeing your photo of the real parts, it's making me want to finally put mine together too. I didn't make it past the de-greasing of the drill the first time around.

Nice Deck 36 MT Tony! 8)

I remember discovering their original website back in the day and getting blown out of my chair with the amount of detail in their photo tutorial on the build-up of this motion tracker.

Out of curiousity I just went to check out their site and found what appears to be its epitaph...

http://www.deck36.com/

On a brighter note, a decent portion of the original website appears to have been archived here, but many of the photos appear to be missing...

http://web.archive.org/web/20021124135617/http://www.deck36.com/

That said, without a doubt KEEP your Deck 36 MT -- that data plate is definitely the icing. Also, I'd keep the real parts as well. The Master Replicas version -- do with it what you will. I have one, and I will probably only keep it until I have been able to build up my real parts version.

In fact, I was one of the lucky few who knew about the Sphygmomanometer (pump widget) auctions on eBay Stephan is talking about -- and yes, I managed to get one. ;)

Once again Tony, great photos and interesting story of your Deck 36 -- thanks for sharing!

Cheers Ripstick, I definitely am keeping the Deck 36. Seriously considering putting the MR Tracker up for sale to finance the deposit on a HCG Pulse Rifle now I found a local store pre-ordering them!;)

As an aside, I saved a copy of the D36 build guide and parts illustrations on my laptop, is anyone capable of re-building them into a working online guide? I think it would be a little payback to those who missed the D 36 MT.

Cheers

Tony

As far as Motion Tracker replicas go, you've got a nice 'set' of them there Tony. And being the aliens fan/collector you are, can you live with letting one of them go i.e. the MR one? Yup the silver weathering was a bit nasty in places but it does look good in it's case and it's a limited edition too. Unless finances/space etc is an issue then the question is ' do YOU really need to sell it'? That's something only you can answer really.

Yeah I'm constantly considering what I'd be willing to let go of these days. Mostly to finance something else I'd like to purchase.

But I always seem to go back to "Once (this prop) is gone... it's gone!" And the money will not "save the day" as much as I'd like to hope. I don't think I'd ever get as much as I'd like selling my props anyway.

I have let go of things in the past- only to regret it. And recently I bought back (for considerably more than I paid the first time around) a bunch of Matrix toys that I let go of five years ago. I learned my lesson- unless I truly "don't want this anymore" I'll put it in storage rather than sell something.

It really annoys me that the original poster wouldn't tell us what and where this came from!!! I know it was to protect the person who aquired it but come on, we're hardly going grass them up.

I think it's more personal issues than legal ones, mate... I get the impression a fair few friendships took a beating over this project. Hence the 'He who shall not be mentioned ever again'.
I'd leave it at that, personally.

Heres a big bump. Some great info on the rare "Deck 36" motion tracker kit
I dug up the old website and the build instructions are still there for your reference folder.
lots of good stuff here.

http://web.archive.org/web/20040606023524/http://deck36.com/online.htm

http://web.archive.org/web/20040603185448/http://www.deck36.com/

Also realized that "Alienscollection" has a "Deck 36" logo on the motion tracker page.
I love how the pump widget is labelled "unidentified". 4am research sessions...
