The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Crouching - WHY???!!!
I get that other games have it, but WTF are you gonna crouch behind something for?
Aliens can 'sense' you, Preds can see your body heat.... what difference will crouching make?
Seriously, I wanna know - I can't see a reason.

All I can offer is the following:

Yes Aliens can sense you but after that they have to get to you. Having cover would, IN SOME SITUATIONS, make it harder for an alien to get to a marine if he was behind cover ( especially when using the focus/leap attack ) . Also, if you were behind cover it could reduce the amount of acid damage taken as some of it would be absorbed by the cover itself.

Cover would mean that a Predator throwing a spear or chucking the disc would have a smaller target to aim at.

Marines fighting Marines in free for all type deathmatch would be a smaller target for the weapons fire if behind cover.

At least Rebellion don't stiff their staff over royalties like *some* software studios...

Fair point on the crouching.
I personally found it easier to keep moving away from the target.

Yup, as the game paraphrases; Press L stick to run - just bug out and call it even.

Playing through the Predator campaign at the moment, just got the first "Gnn!" moment;

At one point they give you the ability to see Xenos in shadows/at distance, but then don't give you a power point to recharge your weapon in the next area, so you just end up waiting for them to get close and melee them instead.

Except that your spinny disc thing dosen't have ammo... you just wait a few secs for it to return and you can throw it again. I got very good with it, I can decapitate aliens in one hit and nail a second one when it slingshots around.

Sorry, should have explained; I'm pretty rubbish at games and I find the disc very difficult to use.

The only Achievements on the 360 game I have is the story progression ones, none of the weapon/killing numbers of enemies ones. :)

You can play it however you want, really. I just wanted to point out that you arn't TOTALLY useless in terms of ranged weapons when you don't have your Plasma Caster. IMO Spear is the best weapon in the game for Pred but you don't get that till really late in the story.

Admittedly I mostly just used melee with the pred, but the Disc was fun when I figured out how to use it properly. I think my favourite part of the Pred mission was early on when you infiltrate the Jungle base. I tried really hard to be steathly in that area because it was so fun to pick people off and hear the ones that we're left start freaking out.

Well in that case you can at least do the whole "focus" thing the Pred has so you can leap at them from a good distance away with a melee attack. =)

Yup been doing that, but must remember not to do it at a Xeno near the edge of a long drop. :D

God, the combi-stick [spear], is unholy. It makes the dropship-load of androids you have to bag and tag, easy to deal with.

YES. The spear is complete dominace. It kills most things in one hit, and it "recharges" in about 3 seconds. Only downside is A) bacause of it's uberness, you only get to use it for um... the last mission? and B) It sucks if you miss during an intense firefight.

yeah, it's totally impossible to hit an alien with the combi-stick.

I like to mix between the stick for humans, and the disk for xeno. The last boss, i used my plasma caster, and mines. Otherwise, i find the energy system too limiting for what are very average weapons.

It takes practice but its wholey dooable to hit the Xenos with the combi but using the disc is a lot easier.

Enjoying this muchly... But I've come across a nasty bug I hope vanishes when I restart my system to play next time!

Right after the lab scene, where you have to find the elevator to get to the boss fight... My primary fire stopped working!
So I've just had to leg it past all the security dudes and a load of xenos using just my pistol's Secondary Fire mode!

It got me a trophy - "Gunslinger" but still... Boss fight that way? Uh uh. No way.
I thought at first it was deliberate and I'd mssed a line about my weapons being disabled or something...

I used the description "more often than not," which does not imply that every single woman will be this way. What it does imply is that a majority, or more than half, will feel a sense of loyalty. It's just a personal observation based on my experience in the real world and on message boards. No need to get offended.

And your statement about siding with your guy friends because they tend to be more logical sorta proves my point... unless I'm reading that wrong?

OK... You seem to hate the fact that the tiny Rebellion studio and it's 40 or so staff have taken a little bit of cash and made a game that isn't utterly perfect, which is what SEGA hired them to do anyway. They've done good enough and gained No.1 Worldwide sales, without Activision's über-juggernaut approach that makes MW so 'amazing'.

It's like criticising our members' fan-films for not being in CGI-enhanced 3-D, with the same cinematography as Avatar.
"The technology exists, so why can't they do it?"

And as for the 'chauvinism' thing... Come on, you did deserve that from her
26 (and a half) women here in my office, all agreeing with Kerri on the wrongful, blanket judgement of their gender. Slightly ironic since they're siding with a woman on that argument, but hey....

Never mind. We may not see another AvP game. Rebellion lost another 20 staff yesterday to it's Oxford studio to redundancies as they try to keep the business going.

I reckon another company will pick up the license though, i mean, new predators film soon, new aliens film next year. and this one was popular enough.
