The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Has anyone ever come across / heard of / designed a uniform for the upper ranks of Marine Command? I was thinking specifically about either a Colonel or a General.

That is if the command structure follows a traditional path...

Why not the left temple angled to the right back end of head. Max carnage, though what sort of round, Clean kill or BIG MESS?

Really Gorman's dress and battle fatigues would be the templet for an officer of any rank above lieutenant. You would just wear the corresponding rank pin. Colonel is an eagle and 1-4 stars for a general.

Excellent :) Itd be the dress uniform Id be looking to put together.

So itd be as simple as switching out a lieutenant's pin for an Eagle? No additional dress jacket or anything?

Depends on how far you want to go with it. The only screen accurate dress uniform is Gorman's Service C from "Ripley's apartment" scene. If you want screen accurate- yes it would simply be switching out the lieutenant's bars on the shoulders for eagles (although being a colonel you might want to have a large rack of ribbons on your chest  )

However if you are looking into something more "dressy" you could go the expanded universe route I went with my "Dress Blues" project of 2008:

viewtopic.php?t=2518

This consisted of genuine USMC parts (such as the tunic and cap) and extrapolated bits to stay within the Aliens USCM universe.

My Dress Blues are for enlisted personnel. For an officer I would go with an all black tunic (minus the red piping). I'm a little unsure where the rank placement goes on a real USMC officer uniform though.

I might just stick with a Gorman - esque uniform. Its for my fan film and itll only be on screen for about 40 seconds.

I suppose from there I can take the rank back down and use it myself once filmings all done :)

I'd like to see the service C uniform with a green jacket, to match the trousers. I guess you'd go with a long sleeved shirt with that too.

Got myself an RUC cap and olive slacks. Time to go hunt a tan shirt.
