The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'd really like it if you could point out where you saw 'clipping issues and low polygon models'. I'm sorry but I really hate when people try to comment on games using technical terms they don't even understand. Many console titles have little to no Anti-aliasing, that's mostly a PC gaming appeal. I think the maximum for any single game was 4x AA on a PS3 game, where PC titles are going into the 16x MSAA category. It dosen't say what platform the footage is from, and if you think it looks anything like the origional AvP your either insane, or just hating on the game for the sake of hating on it.

Clipping / collision issues:

Low polygon models:

(On reviewing the slowed down video, it appears as per the screenshot that it's just a problem with the tail of the model being made up of a few long straight sections creating the angular appearance, regardless it still looks quite rough in motion.)

Don't mind me, I'm just hurting over the fact they've stylised everything (particularly the Marines), and tried to make it 'cool' and 'new' when really there was no need for it. What's going on with the flame units and the armour? It's like the art team played way too much Gears Of War...

Did I mention some of the textures were quite low resolution and the animation of the Xenomorphs was a bit off?

As I say, don't doubt it'll be a fine game, I'm just not digging it as I see these little niggly things and it spoils the 'illusion' for me. Maybe I've just indulged my eyes too much playing on bleeding edge gaming rigs for so long. At the end of the day if the gameplay is good, that's what counts...

I'm not sure how much I should say, but the actual game is nowhere near finished at the moment. The current visual condition of the game would make you sick, Allan - I'm glad I can see past that, and I'm confident it will look great when finished.

I'm not sure how much quality should be expected based on a "trailer" of a video game still in production...and really, is it worth sweating the small things? 8)

I have no doubt they are going to change a lot about the marines. I mean honestly, it takes place "30 years after Alien 3" so Im sure there 'would be' changes in a lot of those things. They are just adding their twist to it all, but keep this BASICS of the whole thing.

Now, with Aliens: Colonial Marines (whenever THAT is coming out), if they changed anything with those marines... THAT wouldn't go over so well

I hope Sega will stand by Rebellion's policy:
Rebellion CEO wrote:
The content of AvP is based on some of the most innovative and iconic horror movies, and as such we wanted to create a title that was true to the source material. It is for adults, and it is bloody and frightening, that was our intent. We will not be releasing a sanitized or cut down version for territories where adults are not considered by their governments to be able to make their own entertainment choices.

(Have we got a thread specifically about the AvP game?)

After reading that article I really feel sorry for adult gamers in Australia. That kind of censorship policy kinda flies in the face of democracy. I can understand the concerns about exposing children and "vulnerable" adults to excessive violence, harsh language, etc., but people like that should probably not be playing scary video games in the first place. Forcing video game companies to edit content to meet some government official's perception of morality sounds a little too much like having Big Brother doing everyone else's thinking for them.

Some form of regulation to shield the too young and "vulnerable" is probably a good thing, but let mature adults make their own decisions about the kinds of games they play. I hope for the sake of Aussie gamers who are Alien & Predator fans that the new "mature" rating will be adopted in the not-too-distant future. :delta:

The Hunter Edition looks sweet! Wish I'd seen that sooner, but I was already enticed by these bonus downloadable player skins that will be available with the regular edition pre-ordered through GameStop. It would be great if they each had special abilities to go with their descriptions, but methinks they're just for show.

I've just read that Australia's Classification Review Board reversed their earlier decision and that Aliens vs Predator will be released in February with an MA 15+ rating, and with no changes or removal of original content. :delta:

Link straight to the video page:

Was certainly cool hearing one of the Weyland clones... I mean sons... Say the actual tag line of the Company.

There is an "HD" version here with ad preroll: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/weyla ... s-vs/60303

Downloadable (220 Mb) version here: http://www.bigdownload.com/games/aliens ... iler-2-hd/

I REALLY like the look of that - great trailer! :D

I don't think the Aliens move right, but I don't mind; I don't think perfection can be expressed by mere mortal game designers ... but more mouth-breathing Xenomorphs?
