Hi all

Really could use your input on the name strip on the back of Hudsons USCM helmet.

With the uscm font.

I'm trying to reproduce it for my helmet and am looking to have it as screen accurate as possible.

What material was used does anyone know?
Is there something out there screen accurate?

The stencil font was obviously black sharpied on I'd imagine.

Would appreciate anyone's help

Thank you

I think PVB knows what they used for the name tapes on the uniforms. Then it's Sharpie time with a good reference photo.

Hey Moosh. Just a reminder that strictly speaking you shoudn't be talking about anything sales related outside of the PX.

Right, I was offering a suggestion for an alternative but I can see how it appears as such. I tried to leave as much info as I could out but I will edit the post just the same :)

Not sure why I'd know? :)

Retrogarde may be getting confused about me making my BDU nametapes by using a permanent marker pen to draw the letters onto the webbing, as they did for the screen used costumes. :)

Ahh, I thought you'd ID'd the exact kind of webbing they'd used. That's all Bughunt10 is after. Is it different from what they made the grenade webbing out of?

Your first post asked about the "name strip on the back of Hudsons USCM helmet", so I thought you meant the name stencil on the metal helmet, not the name tapes on the BDUs?

Yeah the tape on the back of the helmet.

With HUDSON stencilled on it.

I'll take it that's a no about the cotton tape and that's more for the name strips on the bdu's.

Definitely asking about the helmet one.

I thought the helmets just had the name painted onto the camo paint job, same as the name on the top of the chest armour?

Like shown on Harry's site here:

http://www.harryharris.com/helmet2.htm

Nowadays we either stencil/paint it on or get it as sticky back plastic lettering.

Not Hudson.

He had a strip with his name written on it.

Plus Hudsons was covered in a camo cloth helmet cover which had the lucky 8 ball, brain dead and service month countdown graffiti on it.

Yeah but that's not how it appears on screen.

Bill Paxtons on screen helmet is mostly covered with a helmet cover.

Just to clear things up the helmet pictured on my site is Hudson's, it just didn't have a cover on it when I bought it.

So now we're all clear that it's the cloth nametape sewn to the back of the helmet cover that we're talking about. Dietrich, Hudson etc. All had them. I'm assuming it is the same fabric as the ones on the blouses.

Here's a (bad quality) screenshot of what I'm referring to.

Just wondering what material it is if anyone knew.

I'm with retrogarde, I also think it's just name tape, similar if not the same as used on the BDUs.

My thoughts anyway...

I've got a feeling that the tape is actually cut pieces of 1" strap from British '58 Pattern Webbing... This is actually the material I believe they used for belt pouches etc...
