The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Well I couldn't leave it alone. LOL. I added some more wires, connecting the circuit card to the machine interfaces. I also put a cover over the circuit; its translucent. I roughed up the lexan. You can see the details, but they are a bit fuzzy. I put the W-Y logo on it too. I used a printing clear shipping label.

My pile of gear is growing. :)

Hopefully I will remember to leave the bypass kit alone; I don't want to mess it up by trying to add more.

That's pretty awesome Charlie. I've been itching to make one for a year but I was trying too hard to replicate Hudson's actual kit which is an excercise in frustration as it isn't hardly even shown on screen yet we have the one fantastic auction photo of it. I'm glad to see an awesome kit that isn't afraid to be it's own thing. I love the name tapes on the outside. Cool idea!

One comment: what is your plan for carrying this? Hudson's clipped to his belt, but was smaller than yours. Will you keep yours in a pouch perhaps?

Depending on the size, it could go in one of the main pouches.

I have two thoughts on where to carry it. One, it will fit in the large pouch I have for my belt. It's not heavy at all so sag wouldn't be too much of a problem. The other option is putting a bracket on the back and carrying it on the armor. The Tech manual says those hooks are used for backpacks and/or additional equipment. I don't know if i will do that, and I have to wait to get the armor for measurements, but it's a thought. I don't know how secure it will be on those.

Thanks Moosh! Your screen grabs were the inspiration. And I actually got most of the parts off Amazon. The meter was $5 with free shipping there. Couldn't beat that deal.

The meter is 2.75"x5"x0.9". It's model DT830B. I am almost considering removing the internal completely and making it thinner. But I need a scroll saw to do that properly and I don't have one.

Its functional. I don't have service for it, but yes, I can turn the screen on and put a picture there. I debated about keeping the battery in the phone or not; I took it out to make sure everything would fit together and just didn't bother to put it back in. The charger port is blocked by the multimeter.

I can get a nice digital readout on the multimeter, if I put the battery back in that. It would reads zeros, but it would still be on. I'm debating about what to do with the blackberry. It would be nice to have a picture, but charging it would require disassembly everytime. Eh, I probably will figure out someway. The other idea I had was printing a label to cover the screen. Not as cool as a backlit one though.

For my planner I bought over in the Hack Pouch thread, you'll notice a velcro swatch in the middle, thats how I am attaching my devices, same with the multimeter, so I can just pull it out to swap batteries/recharge :). Need to get some double sided self adhesive velcro from the dollar store next time someone goes to town :)

Yeah, I fabbed up a hardplate for my mountings. I thought it would be better; less chance of the items falling out and also gives the case a bit more rigidity. I did think about velcro the items to the backplate, but I was hurting for space inside the pouch as it was. :(

Hopefully tonight, since I don't have any props to work on, I will get down to doing the sketches for the rear armor.

One more piece of the puzzle.

Image

It's not an original Vietnam issue, it's one of the newer release Gerbers. But I got it for a good price. The nylon sheath is not as cool as leather, but it will work well enough for now. I've also ordered one of Spat's resin handle to use for cons and whatnot. I don't really need an actual Gerber, but I'm a sucker for authenticity like that. :)

My sidearm should be here in the next few days, and I ordered a spare magazine. Also, a sling from Noble and one his mag kits is on the way. I'm going to gut the spare magazine I got and make some 10mm caseless rounds to go in it.

I did put an Armat name plate....and just realized I misspelled CASLESS. *sigh*. Time to reprint

Looks good! I may have to do another to incorporate the Marine's logo.

I like you sling mounts and am going to follow your lead on this mod. Question, how well do you think the front triangle mount will hold up to the weight of the gun with the sling? The tab on the bottom of the triangle does not have a lot of surface area inside the SPAS. I'm afraid of the triangle pulling thru the SPAS.
