The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Yeah, I'd be interested in seeing that.

Taj - that's great news! :D Know what you mean about never being cut. I'm actually considering surgery for my worst bits.

one month to go 186 this morning , had to take the week off from weights , any time i deviate from p90x i hurt myself , so its back on p90x until the con , and gotta keep running , might go to the gym for some treadmill action , my old bones are hurting , and the treadmill offers a little bit of cushion .

My diet and running have hit at all time low lately. I'm having trouble keeping my weight steady but I'm putting that down to a combination of poor diet and limited exercise. It may sound like I'm making excuses but I've had a lot on my mind for the last couple of months and I just haven't been able to put in the effort needed. My children are on school holidays now so I don't have time during the day and in the evening I'm expected to spend time with my husband. It's a vicious circle, because I'm down about my weight, that when I do have a chance to workout I'm too tired and depressed to actually get off the couch.

Sorry to be a downer but I just wanted to get it off my chest. I will get back into it, I just need to get my head straight and start running again.

Thanks guys.

I've been running twice since my last post. I still can't manage a whole 5km non-stop but I'm getting there. My last run I only had to walk twice and my average speed is getting faster.

Dom, it's easier when you have a target to aim for. It gives you an incentive to put those running shoes on. But I'm not interested in running any races. My last 5km race showed exactly how much my family and friends care about my attempts at fitness. I was actually asked who I was getting fit/losing weight for. As if you need a reason to be healthy. *eyeroll*

Life is still kicking me in the pants but I'm determined to make time to go running. Diet can be tweaked later.

Vikk, you have to do it for you, no one else, trying to change your life for others does not work

I went the opposite direction, I tweaked diet, and figured I can work out the rest later, as my health allows

I am doing it for myself. I started off doing it for my kids (they didn't need a mother who got out of breath carrying them up the stairs), but now it's all about me.

I'm not so worried about diet. I know exactly where I'm going wrong and I'm not actually that far from my target weight. I am an emotional eater, not to the point of binge eating, but I make bad decisions when my mind is busy worrying about other things. It's either not eating at all or eating too much of the 'wrong' things.

My motivations were a bit different I guess.

So you all know I was the fat kid in high-school (for those who didn't- yeah I was huge back then).

I had always wanted to lose weight, but never got myself into a proper routine until I just one day decided to start jogging.

Went jogging once a week and lost most of the weight. Then I started working out with weights in 1990.

So my motivation in the beginning was solely to get in shape once and for all. Not for anyone else but myself.

However once I started training I cuaght the itch to compete in bodybuilding contests. From there on I had a set goal that I would compete on stage
"one day."

After 18 months I competed in my first show. Came in 5th place out of 19 guys.

So then my motivation and goals went in all directions. I would continue to compete and become a professional bodybuilder. I would own my own gym. Be a spokesman for a nutrition line etc. Lofty goals.

I did my second contest 8 months later. The way the judging went, it looked as if I was either going to win or come in second. I didn't even make the top three. I was devastated.

Over the next year I flip flopped between wanting to compete again or not. I chose not to, and my life took a different path.

Eventually I quit working out completely in late 2003. Didn't touch weights or do anything remotely like exercising for two and a half years.

I finally started up again in mid 2006 because I had once again become pretty fat (not as huge as I was back in high school, but fat none the less).

These days I workout again because I will never allow myself to become fat again. Much like everyone has mentioned, I workout purely for myself, to stay ahead of my inevitable battle of the bulge, and to stay sexy. 8)
