The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Well I`ve seen the concept design hybrid, this is the first rather clear photo of the wee beastie.

This looks interesting to say the least I must admit.
Some of the rumours I`ve heard concerning the hybrid is that it`ll transform (No idea if that`s accurate or more Net gossip).

As it stands as a Hybrid Bug though, looks to have both strengths of the host & the Alien DNA. Kind of like a Pred wearing ALIEN Body armour.

Be interesting seeing more photos of the whole Hybrid as we approach release date.

As it stands,I quite like the look of it so far, though as said I`d rather see full body shots first from various angles.

Hmm, looks like a Pred wearing an Alien costume that isn't quite big enough! ;) :D

The mandibles look a bit stuck on, and useless. If they are crediting the facehugger with enough intelligence to assimilate the cloaking technology (as has been suggested), then you'd think it would realise that mandibles like that look silly! ;)

Well, it's exactly what you'd imagine the product of Alien and Pred would be, I suppose. And it could have been so much worse! :)

I think this looks really cool!

I wasn't a huge fan of the Dogburster from A3, but really like the idea and think that this is done well.

Looking forward to this one!

If you watch the trailer I do believe you see the hybrid getting stabbed under the chin by the pred.

I hate it. A pred-alien is so freakin' lame. If a face hugger lays an egg in a pred and the chest burster pops out and grows into a "pred-alien", why doesn't a chester burster popping out of human turn into a "human-alien"? What would THAT look like? Lame Lame Lame. Hollywood is running out of ideas or as TS826 states, it's some ugly comic book recreation.

I don't like it either, but ...

The Aliens in Alien, Aliens and Alien Resurrection were all "Human-Aliens" and had many human characteristics.

The reproduction of this "hybrid" is now stated that it vomits in its hosts mouth to produce Aliens! How crap sounding is that eh? Colin Strause and his other brother - came up with the idea!

They have bastardised the entire alien consept IMO.

*puts on ALIEN* ah look - a classic! :D

Bri

Yeah, I have to agree regarding this new concept. That's the trouble with movie sagas; the new moviemakers want to do something 'new', but the whole point is that making something new means you are CHANGING something old, and usually the very thing that worked in the first place.

Mike, I disagree with you slightly though: The original Alien WAS the 'human Alien', the whole point of Gigers original was that the thing that came out of John Hurt was esssentially a whole different alien than what would have come out of the chest of the alien elephant navigator on the derelict on LV-426, for example.
This idea obviously continued with the dogburster in A3, and then again with the Pred at the very end of AVP. As a concept, I think this is a really good idea that is continuing Giger/Ridley Scotts original idea, and for that I really like the new PredAlien.

But vomiting in mouths? That's changing for no good reason. And did someone earlier mention something about cloaking technology? PLEASE! I REALLY hope they don't give ANY technology to the Aliens. They're animals, man! This can't be happening man! This can't be happening...

Just like AvP! WTF happened to Alien and Predator? They rocked alone. They were cool as games ... but as movies, so far they SUCK.

Agreed. But notice the 'armour' built into the PredAlien,
sugguesting the creature may indeed assimilate the Predators
technology into its body.

If true, I think this is a step too far. Detail aside, the main reason I
always liked the Alien and Predator movies was because I thought
they were quite believable.

I thought that part was just a different type of 'shoulder', as shown here:

But yeah, if they've put cloaking into the new predalien, then that's just wrong.

Although each film after Alien came up with new things, they kept the basic 'rules' intact, until AvP, when some Xenos didn't spurt out acid blood, they just had a little green goo around the wound edges.

Here's hoping the new film doesn't suck. :?

I guess untill the movie is finally released we wont really know.

But how did this hybrid get off the space ship then ?

Did it kill all the other Preditors and then fly to Earth ? :?:

I guess there could be some sort of relationship that makes the Alien take on Preditor characteristics (guessing) and we did have the weird "Ripley" white skull Alien, the "Dog" Alien so who knows.

Well the previews (and the blurb for the avp2 psp game) mention that the predalien runs amok killing the predators and making the ship crash.

I laughed when I read AICN and they mentioned the predalien looks like a MadTV skit "RastAlien"
