The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey Marines,

Some of you remember a PR rebuild project I began last year and only finished awhiles back. Anyhow, while working on the extras [detachable clip with rounds], we figured it would be nice if the M41A1 PR had something to shoot at...so...we're going on a Bug Hunt [a Bug Build].

As well as accounting for the shrinkage when dealing with latex, we went with a 6ft tall mannequin for that and the fact that we didn't want to use TOO MUCH clay. :D

The sculpture was built using references from the Mcfarlane 12in ALIEN Warrior and Sideshow's Giger Alien Bust. We finished the main body in 4 days, and are still working on the head now. The tail, hands, feet, spine and back spines tubes will be done later.

Enough talk, on to the pics..

We also went for detail as we felt it played a role in the overall organic look of the ALIEN warrior.

Enjoy, it was messy, hot and tiring...but fun. More to come in abit..

Stay safe,

:D I like it! Really nice sculpt. And an Alien in Singapore? I've lived in Singapore; A bug would terrify alot of people there!

However, another stumpy Alien. :( How come I am too tall for every costume of a 7-8ft creature?

Wow, that looks fantastic.

Quite an undertaking I shoul dthink.

It reminds me slightly of Eddie from the Iron Maiden album covers.

Good luck with the molding.

Hiya Tim. It's looking great, man and glad to see you here. :D

I've got a questions for you, sir. What are the odds of me being able to score enough of your castings to construct a personal Z110 Acid Neutralizing Combat Wardrobe. From site ALIENS Papercraft (accessed 14.08.07) Not sure if you may have some factory seconds or any extra pieces left over but, this would make for an interesting bug stomping uniform. Any thoughts on this? ;)

That looks good Tim, and it only took 4 days?? Did you have a small crew working on it?

Thanks Marines!

Tom, I don't see why not...Gimme some time to finish this fully before we talk more details. Cool? Thanks brother!

Anyhow, I'm gonna need abit more advice from you on that PR i reworked for my friend. It's now mine and I want to go with a TM body...Muhahahaha. I'll try to pick up one in Oct when I hit Taipei.

DSB, yup, there were 3 of us. :) Of course during the plastering, I dragged in another to help.

And just to be very obvious, this will be a wearable costume. :thumbsup We are looking at a few choices for the actual suit construction once it's casted. It may be a full blown latex suit with a few underair cuts to allow movement...or it might just work as a trim and paste onto a divesuit/undersuit. I'll keep you posted.

Now the head will be a different thing altogether...as I'll be casting that out of resin and fiberglass. This was decided as the best so as to allow any 'upgrades' to be made possible inside a 'protective' hard shell and to keep the head nice and firm [that sounded wrong didn't it?! :lol]

As for the weight issue, I know some of you are thinking that with the resin and FG choice but don't worry as i'll be using a coating style method so as to keep the weight down...kinda like our Dr Doom masks.

The headpiece will be secured onto a helmet [again, I will work out the choice of helmet and little details once we get the first cast and see what works best.] and like almost all ALIEN suits now, the wearer's actual head will be at the neck area.

Some pics..

Image

And the aftermath after pulling off the Molds...
Image

Bad news though, a few of the arm molds cracked, so it'll have to be repaired [which can be easily fixed, so no worries there ;)]...other than that, the rest of the Molds look fine. :cheers

Will keep you posted.

Stay safe,

Tim.

Hey Marines,

Apologies on the lack of updates but I've been working on my Fett intensively. :) And the weather isn't helping much here...:b

Anyhow, we took a break to repair the cracked molds and did a few pulls to checkout the detailing...

I think I'll start work on the Spines and Tail either this weekend or next week. The hands and feet will be done last.

Will keep you posted.

Stay safe,

Tim.

Great work Tim, looking forward to seeing this one come together.

I really like the Giger style head, kinda looks like his renderings of his Alien 3 head.

Thanks Marines! It's a team effort and we couldn't have come this far, this fast, single-handedly. :)

Well, the Hands and Feet were finished today and we started molding it. They're in plaster now and we'll have em out by tomorrow morning.

Here they are before they got plastered. :)
Image
Image

To save on time, we went with just one hand that will work for both sides. :lol The feet were sized up alittle bigger just incase we needed to use platform style boots to heighten the suit. [Well, I would, I'm pretty short. lol!]

Like the Doom mask from before, after pulling the Alien Head master from Plaster and the prep work, we will use this as a 'perfect' base to mold with silicone. Here's me working on the Head...and no, I do not have white hair...it's the resin. :lol

Image
Image
Image

I spent the day cleaning up the head and resin/bondoing the areas that needed some extra work. Sanded it down after that, and primed it to see what I missed.

Image
Image

Also worked on the Helmet support structure and 3 guesses on what i'll be using for the head support? 8)

More pics a little bit later. It's almost 3am in the morning and I need the sleep. Will be doing a test fitting of the latex suit later and working on the tail.

Enjoy!

Stay safe,

Tim.

More pics...

Only a face a mother could love :lol

Cuse the seam line down the mouth and teeth but this was taken before Dr. Halo_1 [Dentist], had it filled, cleaned and sanded down. ;)

This was the statue that was used for the initial build and will also be used detailing. I'll try to find time to mock up the pipes and tubing today...It's pouring heavy rain now!

Image
Image

More pics to come, gotta upload em from the mem card.

Stay safe,

Tim.

Hey Tim, that Alien head is looking very promising indeed. Even at this early stage you have managed to capture Gigers style really well.
I look forward to seeing how your suit progresses, fella!

Thanks Andrew David!

As much as we wanted to work on the tail and head ribbed tubing and detailing, the rain pretty much screwed up the day. So we cleaned up the latex pieces pulled and worked on the head support harness for the head.
Image
Image
Image
Image

The Alien head primed to check for any missed out areas, which i did...sigh.
Image

The cleaned up teeth and mouth/lip by the in house dentist; Dr Halo_1. :lol
Image

The head support [yes, it's Dr Doom's mask cut down...figured since we had the mold, why not reuse it for something else. :)]
Image
Image

Also did a test fit...yes, the test fitting model was a little wider than a standard Alien. :lol
Image

This is the neck piece being sculpted, cuse the bad pic...
Image

More to come...

Stay safe,

Tim.

I am always blown away at these Alien suit builds. The amount and attention to detail, and the sheer effort needed always shines through!

Incredible work Halo! LOVE the Giger-esque head sculpt!

The head looks great (as does the rest), and it's interesting to me because all the Alien suits I see people wearing have the Aliens style head and not the Giger style you've made. I think it looks a lot more menacing than the Aliens head.

Great work!

Hi Marines,

Just another update...the suit build is DONE! Right now we are glueing together the first suit, so watch this space. :)

Just curious, but is anyone interested in owning one of these heads as a trophy display? LMK.

Stay safe,

Tim.
