The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Cheers troon! Sage words.

I usually end up trying to pay for things with pocket fluff at the UK events, so anything to save cash in the States is worth a note in my book!

thats all good advice.
Food court is certainly the way to go. Chick-fil-a breakfast for $6, huge plate of cajun chicken, rice and veg for lunch $6, and a dozen others for the same price.
Remember the social element though, and dont miss out on bar/restuarant meals with everyone else.

Soft drinks can be free at the bar, at all seems to depend on the mood of the server. I didnt pay for a single coke for the whole week. Just make sure you tip and stay on the servers good side

Out of curiosity, do the rooms have trouser presses?

If we got a room with a trouser press, I was thinking we could make cheese toasties.

You'll get plenty of cheese with every meal you have, whether it's from the food court, bars or restaurants.

And pickles (gherkins). You get them with EVERYTHING.

Although the hotel restaurants can seem pricey, I found that the one in the Hyatt does such large portions that buying only the starter for about $6 can fill you up. :)

Make sure you don't wait to eat either. The food court shuts down "early" so if you're looking for a sandwich at 9pm,
you're going to end up hungry.

However, the 24hour? shop by the Hyatt bar is great for both late night food and relatively healthy food (fruit!!! sandwiches without grease!!!). However, it's pricey so you don't want to make a habit of it.

Is there any sort of mini mart or such like near by? Do the hotel rooms have as fridge? If yes to both... I'll probably buy in groceries and make my own food

There are shops in the Mall. But as yet, I've not found a 7eleven or something like that. But, I might have just been distracted by Liquor stores.

In the Hyatt and the Marriott at least, you can request a fridge.

I fully intend to save, and subsequently blow, a small fortune!

Ive not been to the USA since 96, and even then I was too young to appreciate it! And I shall be seeking a burger king out at some point. I have fond memories of 99c Whoppers. And free refills.

I can indulge my unholy love of carbonated drinks for a fraction of the UK cost!

I was surprised this year to find the food court mostly open at 11pm on Sunday night.
Obviously they were not 'all' open, but enough for a good choice.

If you're really on a budget, and don't mind walking alot more, about a mile down the street there
is a grocery store(I can't remember what its called but Sid, Pat, and I walked there in 09.)
Buy a 5 dollar cooler at the liquor store across the street, buy 30 bucks worth of food at the grocery store,
and you're set for the weekend.

Sandy, the money you will have to pay to have a fridge in your room, combined with the cost of the groceries, you will end up spending more than eating out.

Seriously, the people who have been before are giving you the best advice they can. I understand your desire to keep your spending down, however, we are worried that trying to wring every cent out of your time there is just going to make your DragonCon experience a bad one.

Take it easy guys
I was just exploring options. I fully intend to have enough money that I'll be using dollar bills as hankies.
