The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

That....looks....remarkable...

I am THAT much more excited about it!!!

Looks like the GL doesnt much resistance when racked. That might annoy me a bit.

But MAN does that look sweet or what?!?!?!? :D

Considering this will be THE most accurate Pulse Rifle replica since... well, forever I think that's a small price to pay. :)

Aye, well it took me a while to think.

It's a display piece, not a "I'll take it to convention, saw it up for the shrouds, reck a £££ replica". But a replicant of one of the most remarkable weapons in movie history.

Plus i'm sure HCG only made it to be taken off the stand for a couple of seconds so you could play with it in front of the mirror!!!!!

Isn't that right MR HARRIS

Oh yeah. I guess he didn't have all the facts at the time. I'll have to try and edit that out.

So how much is this sucker going to weigh? I'd like to have something thats got some weight to it.

It always astonished me as to how heavy the real ones were. The Thompson in itself is a 11 pound gun, PLUS the aluminum shrouds, and the shotgun to boot. I know it wont be near that since its resin, but I would be cool to have something that has some weight to it.

Nice vid and thanks for all your effort you put into the HCG PR Matsuo. The Brown Bess is looking sweet in that vid.

My last rifle, Marui airsoft with GEM metal reenforced resin shrouds and resin GL section, metal barrel and stock weighed 12.5 lbs. It was heavy. To carry, manuver and in general deal with. I loved it, but seriously, do you truly want a 15 lb replica gun? Might as well carry a Smartgun like some here do. :)

haha I wouldn't mind it. This isn't something I am going to be carrying with me anywhere, so a little weight wouldn't bother me. :)

Yes, you'd never forgive yourself if it got knocked around or damaged.

Having said that, If I ever get one I'd definitely take it out.
As nice as it is to just hang on the wall, I don't think I'd be able to resist showing it off since it's well all worth the appreciation you'd get!

Since the P-type was all resin I guess that makes it heavier than the production model,
but I must say it had a 'freindly' weight to it and would be fine to march with, IMO.

My resin PR was about 12-15 lbs before Noeland got a hold of it
But this one will be a display piece after its round of 'showing off' among friends in OKC ;)

I use Media Player Classic with the K-lite codec pack installed. VLC is another great media player that seems to play everything.

http://codecguide.com/ - K-lite codec pack (includes Media Player Classic)
http://www.videolan.org/ - VLC media player

Hurry up and download one of them! You're missing out!

As Alien posted above, Tony -- or, you can install Quicktime to play this .mp4 file:

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

If you still have no luck after that let me know and I'll ask resident techy Abe who could most probably sort you out.

Has anyone any info on the wall thickness of the aluminum on the shrouds?

I can't imagine them being THAT thick. Maybe a few millimeters, but nothing substantial.

Here are some answers i got from matt, and HGC regarding the shrouds, hope they dont mind me posting them:

Though we are driving for removable shrouds I cannot with 100% accuracy answer that question without knowing more myself. The factory is still fine tuning the production elements.

I wish I could say more but I honestly don't know at this point.

Matt

The shrouds will be all one piece including the mag housing, well 2 pieces really that screw together. So the mag housing will be in 2 halves as well & part of the shrouds.

Mag is resin & is held in place by magnets.

Mark

Hope that helps people

Magnets huh? So it doesn't really 'connect' with anything on the receiver portion of the thompson. Interesting. I hope they use some heavy duty magnets.... though that brings up another question:
-Will we be able to use the thompson mag release to.. well... release the mag??

The video of the prototype seemed to show the 'mag' as just a compartment to hold the batteries for the counter display.

Edit: Watched the vid again and I didn't see the mag release used to take the mag out.

The PR's not an airsoft, if that's what you're wondering?

I used magnets to hold the mag base on my Spulse on. You can get small magnets that are easily strong enough to hold the weight.

nope, i know its not airsoft. I was just trying to figure out if they did anything spiffy with the magnets or anything. I would like to see the use of the mag release. haha I guess I want to see this an accurate as possible. I am going to be VERY anal about it when I get mine... unfortunately, thats just how I get sometimes :-P

anyone know what the dimensions of the Wall plaque are going to be? I am re-doing my office into a Man (geek) Room, and am going to make one big wall a display wall. I have all of the Palisades Busts and Statues that I am going to display and I want the PR to be right in the middle so I need some measurements...
I have contacted HGC TWICE and I haven't received responses back.

any ideas? :?:
