The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

A thread in the Off Topic just prompted me to post this.

I finished Karyn's DS pilot helmet a while ago but didn't get around to posting anything about it.

Here are a few pics.

I'm redoing the front graffitti and tweaking the two half cones that the tubes go into on the right hand side.

A big shout out to Matt (Noble), Stephen210 (Steve), Mike Rush (for the name decal) and everyone else who contributed to the amazing R&D thread that got these greeblie pieces done. :D

They are great and really finish off a Dropship Lid.

Cheers,

Andy

Those photos were taken when it was freshly finished.

But what about that last scene we haven't shot yet. Don't tell me you've already done it mate, be a shame if you have to put it all back to how it is in the pics again

Thanks Kev, appreciate the kind words, you must do yours, it makes all the difference on the lid.

Thanks Vick, but the really hard work was done by the guys who researched and made the kits.

Ta Woody, I looked at weathering it and I couldn't settle on a way to do it. As I said it's weathering itself, Karyn throws it around enough! j/k

Bet you could! :)

Thanks Rusti, it was good fun and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, even though I was rushed by Mr Friendlyskies!!!

The one Karyn is using was from ebay, unissued and still in the helmet bag, instructions, earplugs, the whole lot. Got it for around £120 if I remember correctly, an absolute song!

I then bought a cheap busted up SPH shell (ebay again), so I could practise the cutting techniques on it. If you can do this I'd highly recomend it.

I now have an extra large one for myself, ebay again, courtesy of a big pointer by Sidewinder, which I hope to turn into a Spunkmeyer soon.

I think they still turn up pretty frequently at militaria fairs, ebay and surplus stores, prices vary hugely though.

Andy
