The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi, some of you may remember me from a few years ago, others may not.

While I had never really been able to participate, except for identifying a few props and submitting a pin up image, I always loved this place, and I loved the work you lads and lasses did.

Well I was finally able to get into it myself a little, as well as decorate my gaming (tabletop roleplaying games) with my old toys and weapons.

Here is the result...

Ok yeah, they are all just repainted nerfs, but I dedicate them all to Matsuo...

Please forgive the poor quality pictures, all I had was my cellphone, and the lighting just wouldn't work right.

The Firefly was the second nerf gun I bought, and the first one I painted. I screwed it up and the paint came out kinda thick, the gray even cracked. But thats ok, it ended up looking kinda cool anyway, and taught me a lesson about waiting till whatever I am painting is the same temperature as the environment I am painting it in. The only real modding done to it is the Air Restrictors were removed, but I would like to mod it so the barrels spin like a Gatling gun. Perhaps being able to switch between normal mode and cosmetic, so it will still work.

The second gun I painted was my Recon, the third Nerf I bought. It has had the plunger hole plugged and the AR removed. I also modded the stock, condensing it all down to look like one piece, and cutting a hole through the pieces so the bolt of the plunger moves through them. Wouldn't mind getting a second Recon and trying a similiar but different paint scheme., would also like to try a mod to reposition the slide to the back of the weapon. It's my favorite gun performance wise. The paint job isn't inspired, just black with the original accents, a hammerred finish barrel, and some silver accents, but I wanted it to look basic.

Image
Image

Here you can see the stock mod, and how the plunger bolt slides through... sorry for the fuzzy quality. I wish I had had a dremmel for this, it would have turned out much cleaner, as it was I did it with wire cutters and toenail clippers, if you can believe that.
Image
Image

Next up was my Longshot. I see it plenty, but I love the Pulse Rifle look, and I wanted one for myself. Other than plugging the plunger hole and ar removal, the only thing else I really did was add-on a soda bottle cap to the front gun to make it look more like a shotgun, and cut the "up" clip on the front gun handle to allow it to be removable because sometimes I want it to look more like a Morita. I also used some PVC pieces I had and an ibuprofen bottle to make a secondary "sniper" style barrel extension. When my new longshots arrive, I have some new things I want to try, mostly cosmetic, but I do have an interesting mod planned for the frontguns. I didn't do anything major to this one because I like the idea of a modular, multi-purpose weapon.

Then we come to my Mavericks, the first nerf guns I bought and modded, and second to the last on the paint list. I had seen them done silver and black, and I dug that concept. So I gave it a shot myself. The black one has a crazy "shimmer" texture, which is kind of cool, kind of reminds me of rough iron.

Finally, on a whim I bought a RFR from buzz bee. Silver casing, but with a hammered mettalic black barrels and accents. No real modding of any kind, though I did take an extra stock from an old entertech m-16 watergun and add it to the stock of the RFR to make it long enough to actually be useful. After painting, I really have come to love this cheap ass gun. It just has this post apoclypse vibe, so I adorned it with crap. I like the way it turned out, and I love the shell ejection. I think there must be a pretty big spread for quality with these guns, because I hear a lot of bad about them, but out of the box I was shooting my cat from across the room. (Cat has eaten like 15 darts, so it served him right :P ) I cut the suction cups off the darts to give it a wierd "bolt" look, I painted the shells and the tips of the darts as well, just because. I also added the sight thingy from the recon, because its utterly useless and antiquated, but it looks ok on this post apocalypse style rifle...

Before decoration. You can see the longer, thicker stock...

After

detail shots of the crap hanging off it...

And thats what I have done so far. I did them all in about a week. I don't LARP, but I do play roleplaying games, and these serve more as decoration for my custom gaming room than they do for shooting, though frequently during games a skirmish will break out between my friends and I.

I realize my paint jobs are pretty cliche by now, but that's fine with me, I wanted them too look either "cyberpunky" or "post-apoclyptic", and I think I achieved that.

These pics are more recent, and so are done with better quality...

my vulcan...

I also repainted my Recon. I hated it in all black, looks much better now I think.

Image

And my girlfriend bought me a doubleshot, woot.

Image

When I got the vulcan, it came with 2 longshots, I love the pulse rifle look, but decided to go with gray to match the recon for the first...

Image

But for second I stayed with the PR style, but I tried my hand at some advanced cosmetic modding. Wanting a fully modular LS, I removed the foregrip bit, as though I were going to do a fg integration, and instead glued a rail on there (taken from the recon barrel extension) and I covered up the hole with a cover of a hand held game I got from mcdonalds.

Image

Then I set to work on accessories.

Image

The first accessory is just the top front half of a ls fg, it doesn't do anything, it just looks neat to me.

Image

I kept the top half from one of the other FG's to make a sniper barrel extension. I had seen this done before, however, I haven't seen anyone add a rail to it, not have I seen anyone do a removable bipod... (recon target light mounted under the ls as well)

Image

And here is the bipod mounted to the LS.

Image

And of course it never would be complete if I didn't add the FG intergration...

Image

The problem with that was, the connection mech for nerf accessories is kinda weak and wobble, I fixed that for the fg by inverting the leftover rail from the recon barrel extension, now it fits smooth and tight.

Image

Here is my display for them in the gaming room...

Image

And for shits and giggles, I put my replica swords, and all my old toy guns (mostly waterguns from the 80's) up above the garage door... ( however If you look to the far right, you may see 2 familiar props made by this awesome guy right here among you....)

Image

Hope you enjoy, and I just wanted to say thanks for the years of inspiration you have provided me...

DUDE...... Those weapons are utterly amazing!!!!!!
Seriously, they look like they belong in almost any Space Marine armoury. One glimpse and my mind is instantly thrown into a whirlwind of imagery from things like Halo, Starship Troopers and so on.

Very, very well done there!!
The Gaming Room display is just jaw-dropping.....

Thank-you for sharing!!

Nothing wrong with toenail clippers - I use them myself in parts of my leatherworking as they provide a very clean cut on small things :)

Yup, first generation lazertag pistol and rifle. Man I loved that pistol, unfortunaly the rifle never worked for ****, have 2 of em, and you can be standing right in front of the target, and it won't register a hit. Looked cool as hell though. Both the rifles got left in front of a window for a couple of years in a shed, yellowed them something fierce, so I painted one black. The other... I dunno what I am gonna do with that yet...

The little bitty toy gun with the silverish bits, is an official james bond cap gun I picked up in the 80's. Its cap clip thing is gone, but I bet I could still get a penny for it. Got a James bond walther looking thing too, with the bond logo on the handle, but the hammer on it broke unfortunately, so it's not on display.

The silver revolver is my dads old Nichols Mustang II, inherited it from him after he died. its broken, but looks fine up on the wall. The 2 big grenade launcher things were given to me by Dap over on the BBC forums a few years ago when I asked him if I could use his images of them for my site.

There are 2 little gummy bullet popper guns, a disc shooter, and a zebra II, and everything else there is a watergun from the 80's. None of em are repainted, they came in those colors, back before people were stupid and cops trigger happy, when toy guns looked real. I used to have a much better m-16 watergun, one that looked balls achingly real, but it was stolen from my house along with my collection of boot knives. I miss my vp-70 watergun the most.
