The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Congratulations! As a former professional prop person, I know how difficult it can be to make a living doing what you love. I still have friends in the business and it kills me when they get laid off or are between films etc. Just because you are able to do what you love and have a steady paycheck doesnt mean your fanbase here will diminish at all. Congratulations, Spat! When anyone can go off and live the dream, who with a clear conscience can not wish that person much happiness? Go forth and conquer... even more, Sir Spat!

Ummm... How to say this so you guys won't hate me even more...

Wizard is asking me for a list of Conventions that I think have a big following. And Wizard will send me there to "work" schmoozing celebs to get them to come to Wizard, booking dealers, and signing up the attendees for the Wizard Mailing list. Anyone in Jersey this weekend should stop by Chiller to see the awesome stuff Wizard and Big Apple are going to be giving away at our booth in our hourly raffles! Including a Limited Edition Rocker Biker Girl statue from Electric Tiki. #006 of 250. Retailed for $249 before they sold out of them!

:)

So not only do I run three of the biggest cons in the country, but they're also going to send me to other cons and pay my way, and let me play with toys!!

Tee hee.

Ok, back to armor talk, just keep in mind that the once a month armor thing won't start for a few months. I have a lot of armor already ordered that I have to finish and ship first.

I'll be pulling the armor down in about an hour. Last chance to place an order and get on the list for a set the way you like it, after that, it'll be armor the way I feel like making it!

And thanks again for all the compliments, folks. It really means a lot to me.

Drew reminded me earlier that 9 years ago, in April of 2000, I started as a Volunteer at Chiller Con in Jersey. I sat at the bottom of an escalator and checked wristbands all day. Now, 9 years later to the month, I run the big cons.

It's been a very long, strange trip, and it looks like it's only going to get stranger!

:)

Spat, wait till you get your first paycheck. remember those words "wow they pay me for doing that?" - that's most likely what you'll be thinking, while smiling, looking at the paystub.

Being paid to go to con, that's awesome. I'm not jealous, au contraire: I'm happy for you, and for the fact its "one of us" that gets into this role, not some dude who doesn't even understand what it is to follow conventions.

Neither have I, sorry Spat - congratulations buddy! Me, Gareth and ADC were talking the other day about how cool it would be if we could somehow make our living from what we love; the Aliens films - it sounds like your dream has come true... although presumably this means you have to stay sober at cons now, right?

"So there I was... sober off my ass... when...." ;)

Sober! Blah! Is anyone ever really "Sober"?

At night at the cons, it's MY time.

And let's be honest, I would never have gotten where I am in fandom if I stayed sober at night (or the early afternoon) at a convention!

:)

It occurred to me to check the time/date stamp on the first message - since I haven't checking in for a bit and it being April and all.

So, unless Spat is behind a fortnight, all is well.

:)
