The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

It's pretty close. Maybe Herr Millimeter can have a check for me..

I'm 99% there was a screw boss that broke off the front corner.
Thoughts?

Very intresting... That goes on the side of the helmet? I may have to watch the movie for the ?? time and pay attention to the pilots.

You got Mr. Millimeter's seal of approval for the sprue! ;)

There is a difference to this picture however:
Image

You can see that the top of the sprue touches the bottom of the cutout in the pyramid (red marking) and the right side of the center pin is almost aligned with the right side of the cutout.
This makes me believe, that your pyramid is about 1mm (what a coincidence ;)) too high.
For a test you could beef up the baseplate with some 1mm sheet styrene. This would make the sprue sit higher and this it will automatically move to the right.
If you really want to correct this you'll have to remove the pyramid from the base plate and take about 1mm off :(
(Sorry, but you asked ;))

Cheers,
Stefan

PS: Did I mention that I love your stuff? :D

I just realized that you don't have this side fixed to the base plate yet - so it won't be much of a problem to correct the height of the pyramid. (Note to self: Look at the pictures when writing coments!)

Cheers,
Stefan

Well, the civil ceremony is today, so it will be official.

I'll be a married man...

Good stuff. She approves of my hobbies. I just need to revive

some of my more active hobbies also...

Not sure if I said this before, I'm not doing the molding for these.
I'm lending my originals to a friend to mold up. He has helped me
alot over my time here with info on stuff, so I did this project as
a pro bono thing. I won't be selling them.

What do you think about the missing screw boss on the

corner of both helmets?

All the best for your marriage! :D

I haven't found a picture where this part is still in place. From the look a screw boss is very likely. However. the diameter seems to be larger that the diameter of the screw boss at the rear.

Cheers,
Stefan

Found this in the mailbox today... 8)

Externally it's in great shape with minimal scratches and practically no corrosion of the metal bits.

However the seller stated that the foam for the earcups had gone bad. He wasn't kidding! :(

The inside of the helmet was almost completely covered in rotted black foam bits- it was like tar! :(

Took a lot of cleaning to get most of it out. I cut and removed the inner leather circle that the straps go through (and tossed it in the garbage as it was the source of most of the black tar). Had to duct tape the earcups as they were spewing tar as well. Guess I'm on the lookout for a new set of earcups.

Otherwise it's actually in pretty good condition! :)

Was surprised at how snug it fit when I finally tried it on.

Now I just have to get up the courage to cut the holes for the greeble sections. 8)
