The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I feel very uncomfortable here, and its no one's fault, but my own.

Like I said in my introduction. I'm a Star Trek guy that really wants to build some mean looking aliens props. On the Trek boards I am a big fish, and here I am the little fish. So some times I find it hard to post replies so that it doesn't sound insulting to anyone or arrogant. I guess my problem is that I don't know anyone here yet or their abilities, so I must trust the majority at their word. By that I mean. Can I give this guy my money? or This guy knows his spas cages. Or take this guy at his word. Things like that. In time I'm sure I will feel more at home here. Maybe after I start my pulse rifle, and start posting pictures.

I am looking forward to a long stay here, but I just needed to get this off my chest.

Myron

It's all good here.

Example:

If somebody buys a dreadnaught industries flamer
(low price, not accuracy tight) It is no biggie. "You get what you
pay for" Is what most people will say.

If somebody gets a morgan13 flamer (more dough, tight on the
details) Damn that is really sweet man! (something like that)

If both guys are rolling in a con parade, both are treated equal.
Priceless.

No worries. Ask around if looking at getting something.

Here's the way it works:

Everything I say is right, everything Kevin says is wrong.

And we just nod and smile at everything Harry says because there's always a chance of him leaving his prop collection to us in his will.

:)

Seriously though, just ask about anyone you may have concerns about, and don't buy anything Aliens without asking someone here first.

And it looks like I'm going to have to send you a GOOD kit now. Originally you were going to get one that I stuffed with old socks to keep the shape, but since you're new, I'll send you a real one. THIS time.

The Wife said we have enough old socks. She also said I have enough props, But I can't belive everything she says.

One look at Spat's banner should clear that up.

But being the big-hearted guy I am I made you a new one Spat...

Anyway.

Stapelton- everyobody here was a newbie at one time. I've been on a few different boards and I have to say we are the most welcoming/friendly bunch of any of them! We butt heads at times- occassionally we have a blowout. But around here we're able to mend things a lot faster.

As for sounding arrogant or sarcastic... it's ok. Most of us dish it out around here- so who would we be if we couldn't take it right? If you're not sure how a statement will come off put a  at the end of it- usually signifies a light-hearted tone to what could otherwise be misinterpreted as being a smartass.

Funny that you mention Star Trek Myron. Whenever we meet up at a convention and we've been arguing about Aliens stuff, we set up a giant Vulcan Pon Farr ritual combat circle and go at it like 2 horny greenbloods. Complete with the traditional music.

BTW, everyboard does have its share of smart asses, but AL here has Triple the quota.

First costume was a Star Trek NG shirt. It was green (Starfleet Marine).
Beam me a board Scotty. So I can hit him with it.

Welcome, Myron.

I know exactly what you mean. ...I tend to feel like a little fish here myself (specifically a neon tetra), and like you it's nobody's doing but my own. But I will say that this is a great community, and one of the tightest I know, and I have always felt welcome. Regardless of your skill in prop building/costuming, or the type of props you choose to work on you will find support and guidance at every turn. I tend to see pretty much everyone here as an expert (in one area or another) in ALIENS props compared to myself. And on many occasions that view is just further solidified in the guidance I get when I ask a question. Which brings me to another point: ask whatever you need to ask. As I've found there are no dumb or "n00b" questions around here.

One of the toughest things about joining a new community is getting past the point of feeling like the new guy. But I think that around here that feeling will quickly subside. Welcome. :D

I already feel much better. I love the type of humor I've seen in this thread already.

Oh, and I'm glad I was able to use my vulcan powers to trick spatman into sending me a real spulse kit, and not a spulse filled with dirty socks. :)

I will be posting more soon. I just need to get to work on a few of the alien projects I have planned.

Yeah, I felt bad, and I know I'd never hear the end of it from the mods if I sent the new guy a Spulse made from dirty socks.

So I used clean socks to make everyone happy.

Now I am sockless.

:(
