Thanks Harry, and yes, it is Russ. I just wanted to say a few thanks myself.
I'll start with you, Harry. Thanks alot for taking the time to show us around your collection for the video (Harry was a natural in front of the camera), and also for the great Q&A, we really enjoyed that.
It is always a thrill to see the HHACA, and ever since I first saw it at Simon Clarks Aliens convention in '99 it has always been my first port of call when these events take place. I always get excited to see those costumes and props! By the way, the collection just wouldn't be the same without you, as I'm sure all here would agree. Like Bob Burns and Roman, YOU ARE the collection!
Many thanks to Malika for giving us great access to the event and her thoughts throughout the day. I think the planning and organising that went into the event cannot be praised enough. Not to mention rescuing and being the lord protector of abandoned Alien heads! And nice sausages at the barbie, too!
Geordie – you were a natural in front of the camera and went out of your way to help us 'film the ride'; thanks for the guided tour and expect to see plenty of yerself in the video! You took time to show us how everything came together. Without you we would have been wondering around like headless chickens! Top man.
Jon – Great script, mate. Gratitudes for taking the time to help us with your insight and taking time out to film those cut aways. A real marine!
Jez – thanks for the great website that helped me make the Aliens. I had such little time before the AE due to work and being unwell, that without your site I we wouldn't have got the costumes done before the event. The definitive guide to making an Aliens costume. And a great trailer – we'll put it in the film.
Gareth – Likewise with your site. Great advice with the tail. Well done for letting us film you in various sates of undress! I'll make sure nothing too racy gets into the video cut! (If anyone wants an under the counter directors cut for fifty quid let me know, nudge nudge, say no more...)
Darren, despite losing your voice late Sunday, you still had time for a soundbite to camera. Kudos, soldier! And too much footage of people saying you look like Ben Afleck! You kick way more ass!
Paul. Great intro video mate, would love to get a dv or avi from you to put on the film. Wicked talent.
Thanks to Terry English and Al Matthews for laughing politely at my crap jokes, (these two are the best joke tellers I've ever taken company with). What a highlight it was to spend Sunday night/Monday morning with two of lifes originals!
Thanks to my dark glasses I wore the next morning.
Last but not least, my bro Russ for being on B camera – nice one mate, got some great footage. And not forgetting all the hard work when you and Sarah helped me make the Aliens. Screeee!
All the marines, control room actors, Richard, Giles and the techs for helping us out. If I've forgotten anyone else, I'll remember you when reviewing the footage!
Finally, an apology to all for arriving late on Saturday. People never want to know why or hear excuses, but suffice to say we made it and thanks to all for not giving us a hard time about it!
I'm cutting the video at the moment, will be done in two weeks time, I'll post details somewhen. Didn't take many stills, but here they are below.
Next time round I'm going to leave the camera and be an Alien! As Al Mathews would say "Business is business, baby."
Andrew
A happy Sir Terry of English
Meeting the Sarge!
Dinner after Sundays carnage
Thanks to Terry and Al we got a late drink Sunday night at the hotel.
Al: "Money talks and bullsh*t walks, motherf**ker. Business is business, baby!"
Russ and I with the Sarge before going home.
