The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Ok Just managed to get room at Hyatt.
I have some some folks that want to meet up from my old SWG guild.
I am trying to figure timing out. LOL hate logistics.

The must do things on my list are
1. Hang with Brother and sister Marines.
2. Hang with Marines in Parade.
3. Hunt Bugs in sweep.
4. Memorial service
5. Planet HollyWood dinner with Marines.

What is the usual timing for these besides the 10am parade on saturday?

Also I maybe able to talk the wife into whippin up a bunch O'Cornbread Muffins for the troops.

See ya all there finally.

Parade is at 09:00 pal and the Colonial Marine breakfast is at 07:00... so wakey-wakey. :)

Last year dinners were held at Hard Rock on Friday & Sunday and Max Lagers on Saturday.

The Hard Rock is a must for the "USCM" song & dance...

.... and Max Lager's? Well, the ambience is just lovely.

LOL Lagers is great. Except for the fact they won't split the check.

So bring cash for dinner.

Our rallying point is our fan table.

The fan tables are located in the bottom floor of the Marriott. It's pretty much where we hang out or organize ourselves for the parade or colony sweep.

After 6pm (is it 7pm now?) the fan tables are shut down for the night. We usually meet up for dinner afterwards (unless I see the Bat-Signal  ). I usually spilt off and go attention whoring in the Hyatt or Mariott in the late evening, however this year I think I'll be spending a lot more time with the group.

Late-late evening (say until 2 or 3am) has usually been spent in the Hyatt bar- but last year we hung out in the Marriott bar (much nicer atmosphere and a little more spacious). I think this will be the trend for a while.

I live in the Hyatt bar. I'm there pretty much all night, every night, if I'm not in a room party.

What's the matter, don't like cornbread? Anyone who comes out for breakfast has an extra ticket for the USCM raffle... and the stuff we give away is GOLD!

specopsdet1 wrote:

Fan table is at the Marriott, so we gravitate there for most of the day... I spent 85% of my time there as well as a few other marines as well. You can't miss... really.

Typically we lock down activites and timings a little before over at the USCM Noticeboard on this forum, or else updates are given at the fan table.

Event timings should look like this:

Friday-

19:00 Supper at Hardrock Cafe (USCM Village People)
21:00 Armed Perimeter Security of Marriot and or Hyatt

Saturday-
07:00 - USCM Breakfast at fan table (bring your own coffee, cornbread doners are welcome)
08:30 Departure for Parade from fan table
09:00 Parade
12:00 Lunch at food court
13:00 Colony Sweep rehearsal (unarmed)
14:00 Armed Colony Sweep
15:00 USCM Raffle
18:00 Supper at Max Lager's
21:00 Armed Perimeter Security of Marriot and or Hyatt

Sunday-

19:00 Supper at Hardrock Cafe (USCM Village People)
21:00 Armed Perimeter Security of Marriot and or Hyatt

No joking Chris- you and Ang definitely have something gold together.

Same goes for Chris (SWFreak) and Gretchen. And of course T&C.

My wife hates this stuff, and unfortunately it has been a source of strain in our marriage since the beginning.

I've asked her to come with me since I first went in '03. She says no every time explaning that she wouldn't have a good time there (since it isn't her thing).

I stopped asking back in '06 as I realized if I drag her with me... her not having a good time = me not having a good time.

1. LOL! For some of us it starts Thurs-Mon

2. I leave the GF home. She's not into Cosplay and this is one of the things she's cool with me doing. Although she likes to see pics of the trouble I get into. I would not recommend this unless your girl is okay with it. I think JoeRanger's wife saw some pics of DCON and wasn't too happy.

In all seriousness that ain't gonna happen (not unless you want to be left behind with the parade  ).

Although Dom has posted a 9:00am parade time slot the reality is we are going to the parade staging grounds around 9:00am.

The staging area is a huge park with a large fountain in downtown Atlanta. From approximately 9:00am until 9:45am the various groups (there are several dozen) line up in a pre-determined order (which we will find out when we arrive at the staging area the day of the parade).

10:00am is when the parade actually gets moving. It is a 4 1/2 block walk back to the host hotels from the staging area. It is usually about an hour long (very slow pace). The parade ends around 11:00am where you will be given free drinks at a "disband" area.

There will be plenty of time for tea and crumpets throughout the day afterward.

Ah, well in basic UKCM boot camp the first thing we learn is how to use best china and munch crumpets whilst on the march! :D
