Okay fellas. I could use a little help here, please.

After several hours of scouring the wild wild web, all data indicates that the A.C.M. Thompson is an 'exact' clone of the TM version with a few 'minor' enhancements. This reads well to me.

However, I am very interested to know if the Thompson barrel facade will interchange between the two of them. The image I've attached to this thread is public domain and one that I found while surfing. If there is any problem with my use of it, I will be happy to remove that immediately.

As far as I can tell, it appears that the barrels should swap like they were made for each other. As for the project that I have in mind, I would feel far more comfortable if we could get a confirmation from someone that has both of these in hand.

In any event, considering the apparent value of this A.C.M. airsoft, I may have to simply order one and do the comparison, myself.

Any other minor details that may be different or similar, between the two, are more than welcome within this thread. It is what this topic is ultimately about. ...

I have the ACM while my friend has the TM; the main thing immediately is that the gun metal finish on the TM is much more realistic but once the PR is assembled and weathered you see very little of the Thompson anyway.

For me the TM is very nice indeed but the saving of £100 for the ACM is too good to pass up.

It is a very robust 'parts kit' from one mighty fine airsoft retailer.

I'm not sure what the standard A.C.M. Thompson M1A1 is supposed to include but, this one is missing the battery charger, magazine, and the two bolts that hold the stock in place. The magazine shown is a surplus part off of my own Tokyo Marui. I may be selling this one (the parts kit) off in a few days.



BTW, she insisted on being in this photograph.



Just doing some preliminary checks to make sure my new adapter blocks are going to fit this unit. For the most part, everything is the same. However, there are a few tolerances that are different enough to cause me to make a few adjustments to the next production run of adapters. The grips will swap out, though.

I'm not very familiar with the battery technology with these but there is a significant size difference between the one that came with my TM and this A.C.M. Just thought I should point this out.

Among a few other things:
Almost every slotted screw on the TM is a Phillips head on the A.C.M. This is a nice feature but, for my personal taste, I like the slotted screw located and visible on the bottom of the grip.

Several people have already mentioned that the TM magazine fits but, it is a 'little' tight. With this one at least, that is some understatement. Good luck trying to swap these out quickly especially while avoiding supressing fire. Jeez....

Over all, I am glad that I made this purchase. I'm going to have to make a few adjustments to my next production run of airsoft to SPAS12 adapters. The 'tight fitting' magazine issue sort of gave me a heads up on this matter.

If I think of anything else that I noticed with these, I'll post up.
