The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I believe that NostromoCrew may at some point make some screen accurate red patches. He's currently working hard on fulfilling uniform requests, but he's and Alien3 fan too.

I know him well! He has a Polo jacket that is a copy of the Mk. III he tried dyeing for me. It’s probably too thin for converting but I may throw patches on it anyway…

I’ll ask if he’s ready to do the red patches.

I imagine he’d be doing the bird too, and if so, you can bet it’ll be perfect.

I don't have any spares at the moment.

Need to do some more custom versions for my packs soon, so I'm open to do more red ones.

I have a somewhat ratty hoody I can take the bottom elastic hem off, and possibly material from the arms for the shin reinforcements and other details...

Nice work peeps!
I was working on my own set of an Alien 3 outfit as well based off Ripley's screen used outfit that sold a while back and also Mr Aaron's outfit. Sadly I stopped working on it as I could not find anyone who did the white patch large enough and never got around to looking for someone who could make one. Here's my version of the jacket. It was a modern Flight Jacket "N2B Polar" jacket which I altered (got rid of fluffy collar) to make it look more like the original. I then purchased the weyland patch and ribbon to attach which I need to add wear n tear to and also write the name on the jacket. The serenity patch I never sewed on cos it was too small. If anyone wants better photo's, please feel free to ask.

I got my bird patch from eBay. One seller has them all, but I ended up not liking their red 161 patch.

But you’re off to a great start!

Thank you! Yeah its just the serenity patch holding back my jacket at the moment. Just need to find one in the right size or get one made up but it cost so much just to get 1 made but I don't wanna get a batch made to make it cheaper.

You just need to fix the beak, as I did. These are the closest to the film and easy to get.

That is the exact one I originally ordered but its too small compared to the screen used ones and I was hoping to find one of similar size to that as used in the film hence why I might need to get someone to make a batch. The image below is of Ripleys outfit that sold through Prop Store a while back and as you can see, the serenity patch is quite big compared to the one you linked.

It’s a 5” patch. Look at my earlier posts to see the actual patch I modified.

It’s not the small 3” version.

Thanks for the shout out guys! I’m slowly completing a few of these jackets for myself and a few customers, part of that project is remaking the red shoulder patches and the WY label that I assume someone in the costume department had fun with?

As far as the Serenity patch goes, that eBay vendor did a very good job with the design and the details, besides the very easy fix to the birds beak, I’m not sure I can do any better. I only try and make something if its not available anywhere else and if I feel that I can bring a significant improvement to the table

Thanks Chris!
I’m not super happy with it, silk screening might produce a better result. But I will mass around with them when I have the time.

I have my jacket back from the cleaners. I’ll get to patch layout later today.

I also started stitching the patch on my hat. I secured the bottom, and now I’ll fit it at the top and then open the hat seam behind the patch so it lays nice and “flat” on my head as it should.

Checking colors... Velcro colors on the jacket front.

I have two mil spec green Velcro pieces- one "ranger green" and the other "camo green". I don't know which is which.

But one of them matches the sage green pretty nicely and the other id a bit more gray colored.

But, what is interesting, is the photo of Ripley's jacket, without the name tapes. Basically, it looks like the two velcro samples I have! I don't know for sure what is under the tape on Aaron's jacket (does anyone know?) but I'm inclined to go with the green that matches the Sage green well (Maybe that's Ranger green?)

Take a close look at the tapes.

Someone posted difficulty getting the title onto one of the tapes- they needed more length.

But count the number of weave “bumps” for the letter heights. The name is about seven and a half bumps high, and the title is five bumps high. I interpreted this as 3/4” and 1/2” on the one inch tape. And I got old 1/2 and 3/4 lettering guides.

Also note the taller letters favor the bottom of the tape- they used the wider edge of the tape as the guide for lettering.

PS you want to letter before cutting so you can center it well.

I was looking at the photo I took of my screen to show Aaron’s hat and he has the same funky Mohawk bump going on…

I guess it’s “screen accurate” that way.

Thread counting... the sign of a true costumer.

* Just fyi...
I am pretty certain Ranger Green is more of a Green color. Camo Green is more Brown.

It all looks to be coming along nicely.
Good work.

Wore my hat most of the day today, and the parka a bit too. I need to sort out the tapes, which I had planned to do today, but I didn’t get to it.

I’m close to having a run of red 161 patches done. If I do, would anyone else want one ( made as accurately as possible)?

I've been digging into the carabiner used for Aaron's "keys" on his belt, and I am going on the assumption that it is an aluminum one, and since filming was in the UK, that it was more than likely a Wales brand one.

You can see it is a screw-locking carabiner, so that further narrows the search.

It could be replaced with a "close enough" Chinesium special from eBay not rated for climbing, but I'm looking for a rated one, as that's most likely what was used.

Other brands to search include Petzl, Black Diamond and Omega, who all have a similar look with their older ones.

I was messing around with the name tape today. I’m going to have to make some sort of jig, to keep the tape aligned. But, it looks pretty good I think so far.

For those who have studied it more than I have, would you say this carabineer is the correct configuration for Aaron's belt?
