The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Thanks Stefan. much appreciated. here is the latest with your measurements included. Still a lot to do and I can't really add much of the smoothing detail until it's nearly done. That's why some of the edges look really hard.

Hi all, well i think that this is about as close as i'm going to get to this. I still need to work out the mechanical connection but it should just be a straight copy of the original in terms of how it'll work. I will finish it off and put it up on thingiverse as a work in progress until i've had time to print it.

thanks bud, BTW your con-safe knife build was great (i mean, as if the smartgun wasn't). I meant to drop a comment on it but haven't had time. I never have the patience to get the kind of finish you have but it's obviously worth doing.

Thanks mate. It was actually the easiest clean up I've had to do so far. Printed everything standing upright with a raft and minimal supports at 0.1 and then just a light sanding and undercoat.
I'll be putting it up on Thingiverse later, but apparently you have to wait 24 hours from signing up to do your first upload

Anyone printed this yet?
Seems large, and I'm trying to choose a good scale.
Gonna look back over the measurements in the previous posts and see if I can get it close.
Thanks again Martin!

EDIT: scaled everything to 82.46 here we go.

yeah the new one is pretty accurately scaled against measurements from members here so will be loads closer in size to the original. I think the old one is about 20% larger than the original. I'm in the middle of a frantic week at work so far so i haven't been able to face looking at it today but i aim to get something up towards the end of the week. After that i'll update the smartgun battery as well

Hi all, the new belt tool is up on thingiverse

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4417006

DISCLAIMER. I haven't printed it myself yet so i don't know how well it fits together.

just as a bit of fun i rendered the old one against the new one and you can see how much bigger the old one is.

next steps will be to update the smartgun battery with the new model and of course to print the new one out. Hope that anyone who is interested can print and enjoy this.

cheers

Rich

mixed results tonight. I obviously didn't add enough supports so the piece is warped.

on the plus side i think the detail is great and well on track for what is needed.
