The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So, I guess most countries now are in various states of lockdown.

Non essential shops closed, no going out unless absolutely necessary etc etc

So whats anyone doing to alleviate the boredom?

This happened right in the middle of me redecorating the house and DIY shops are still open, so I've been cracking on with that.

How about anyone else?

Despite the text message from the government last night there is no lockdown for me. The biggest client for the company I work work for produces medical ventilators so I'm very busy right now upgrading PCB layouts.
I've been told that I will likely be issued with a letter that I can present if things get as far as the police stopping people and asking why they are out.

Dealing with, among other things, medical oxygen I also am working my standard 50 hr week. No lockdown here.
Frankly I am grateful to not have to worry about my next paycheck in these times while working in a job that I am mostly solo and controlling my environment. For better or worse, my wife and I still are working as normal.

Now once we get home and on weekends...totally different story. Not being able to do that much, I get a lot more "basement time" and I have my metal armor project, I am planning 'cheap and easy' LED shoulder lamp conversion, and maybe...just maybe I will finally paint the heads of my 1/6th guys (been 3 years on the shelf!).

I was working but walked out of work as its impossible to carry on and keep 2 metres from workmates and all the managers say is well do the best you can I also have an old age father at home with multiple health problems that I have to look after so its not worth the risk of carrying the virus home I would rather lose my job than kill my father

My girl had put in her two week notice in preparation of opening her own business last week. which cannot happen now due to the nature of her work so shes in limbo. Works is slow for me too. However, we are loving quarantining and being anti social. I havnt felt so good in ages.
painted the kitchen, installed a ceiling fan/electrical work. 3d printer is running 24/7, watched ALIENS on VHS! playing borderlands 3, if anyone wants to squad up, hit me up. I found out last night that you can have beer delivered. It sucks to be broke but I live in an area where just going outside is soul-crushing so its a fair trade. Things could be a lot worse and I feel really fortunate that we have everything we need and then some. I'm hoping that everything will be back to normal by raleigh galaxycon. the dates are July 30 – Aug 2, 2020.
Everyone be safe, and stay frosty. Some counties near Raleigh are on the verge of a full shelter-in-place lockdown. For up to date news check out Reddits corona virus page. https://www.reddit.com/r/Coronavirus/

Well I'm actually still working myself, being in the food industry that supplies stuff to all the major supermarkets. So I've been going to work more or less as normal.

But everything being closed has given me chance to devout all my free time to sprucing up the homstead.

Only problem is, that hardware stores are operating on a "click and collect" system and only selling what they deem "essential items". So you can't just go in and buy stuff, you have to order online and collect it from a person in the car park outside the store. And stuff like paint is not deemed essential. So once I run out, that's it.

However, I've got enough stuff to keep me busy for a couple of weeks I guess. So I'm hoping restrictions will be lifted by then and can crack on.

We shall see however!

Still working, the government have designated us key workers. So I'm making the most out of near empty roads and throwing the bike around.

Yes it is easier to travel with so few other people on the roads. Getting home about twenty minutes earlier than normal is useful when I have to do the shopping for my parents, both of whom are in their 70s.

I work in Emergency Management so I'm working a lot, but I've been working at home, which is nice.

I'm trying to find some time in all of this to finish my next PR build.

I am essential as well. I partly chose my career path and occupation to ensure longer term job security in light of previous economic oddities and upsets.

I am finding that the more they lock stuff down, the more the other areas not yet locked down are busier.

I fear the idiots may rule forcible containment if we do not get sufficient testing and containment protocols enacted. These have been slow to implement as there are serious and major supply chain issues as things get retooled to meet the surge in demand. We are almost to the peak of the demand on the supply/demand curve.

But any lockdown like this has long term reprecussions. Many are learning the lessons of their great, great, grand parents when it comes to isolation protocols and the hard impact it creates on business entrepeneurship. If anything take this time to learn that having 3-6 monhts of expenses available is vital to surviving things. No crisis or panic will last any longer than that, personal, or larger. Everything is such that things will bounce back in sorts within that time frame.

Any lock down lasting more than a couple more weeks and we will start seeing containment issues and things devolving rapidly. Police and Military are just as scared if not more so on getting infected and that will create a great security gap if things continue at their current rate.

For the States due to the way that this is being done with not falling back on century old pandemic laws, serious bill of rights challenges will start to crop up. Municipalities will back down rapidly once they start realizing the legal costs of forcing an issue without having martial law declared.

I fully expect things to start coming back to normal by May in sorts.

Perhaps amending things might be sufficient. Until the end of April we will not know how insane things will get.

It is very unnerving to see collapse scenario studies come to fruition in real life.

Civility is the last vestige of modern civilization. Once that leaves everyone, that will spell the end of the world as we know it.

Give me time. I keep practicing my craft on writing. As a child I wrote several poems only to find out later my dad was a poet on occasion. I find that writing is one of my gifts. So far the rednecks in space and mars seems to be getting funnier and funnier as I work on it.

I found a spoof car sticker online and still being in work decided to modify it. Now my office door looks like this:
