The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Just wondering...
Have any of you guys considered adopting the HK Mk23 pistol as a USCM sidearm?
It appears that it was used as the sidearm in the AvP2 PC game. I know it's a tenuous link but I was just wondering.

My personal take on it is that there was a lot of personalized weapons in the film, including pistols, so I wouldn't be surprised to see one ;) Members of our group tend to carry what they like, so you'll see VP70's, a Glock or 2, a Sig, a USP or 2, and yes, a Mk23.

Personally I go for 100% accuracy. I can appreciate the effort and design qualities of custom creations because there are some truly very talented board members here. However for me personally it’s about collecting or manufacturing items that are actually used in the films.

Edit: Should this not be in the OT / Main ?

Ok.

To digress slightly, how about taking stuff from the games in general?

I notice, for example, that the marines in AvP2 seem to be wearing desert BDUs under their armour, rather than the custom cammo BDUs of the movies.

Basically, do you guys consider the EU to be worth looking at when you're collecting stuff, or getting an outfit together, or do you stick to purely film-related equipment?

I'm just curious, is all.

I'd like to be as close to screen accurate as I could, but I doubt I'd ever have the money to do it.. Right now I have a P99 in my leg holster, but if I can ever get one of these new VP70's, I am SO there. ^_^

I like screen accurate, but sometimes you have to get a little creative. :D

My 'buddy' is a Glock 19.
Airsoft, of course.
Although I could use---never mind.

I have the MK23, I love it but it is huge and requires a special holster.

www.rps.net/NE/weaponpics/vektor.html

I alwasy thought the vektor would make a decent USCM side arm. It's considerably smaller than the VP-70 and Mk23, but has a sleek "futuristic" kind of look.

If it's good enough for Korben Dallas, it's good enough for me :)

I've got a pic or 2 around here somewhere of an a.s. P99 I stripped down the grip frame on and painted brown bess. Assuming I make it to DC 2k5, it will be my holstered sidearm with suppressor.

HK MK23 is jusy too durn big for my hand, though I do have the as version with LAM unit.
